  • Sharebar

When Asus revealed the transformer at the CES in January, the Android version was a custom Android 2.x. The company also promised that this tablet with a detachable keyboard will be able to run the Android 3.0 that has been specifically made for larger tablets by the time it launches by summer. The company kept their promise and at the CeBIT event in Germany, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is not using the Honeycomb. What was seen was a basic version of the Android 3.0 but with a customized background. This tablet contains a web browser from Honeycomb with tab support, a new task bar feature below the screen and the keyboard on screen is very intuitive. There are also some new widgets for the home screen. New improvements were introduced in the CeBIT.

Let us refresh on the specs. The tablet has a 10.1 inch screen that uses an IPS display with a resolution of 1280×800. It offers capacitive screen. The GPU is the NVIDIA Tegra 2. The RAM is 1GB and storage is at 64GB. It has the usual radios like Bluetooth, Wi Fi, GS and an optional 3G connectivity. It weighs around 1.5 lbs.

You can check the video showcasing a little bit about the functionality of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. The touch functionality is pretty good. Web browsing is fast and intuitive. The on screen keyboard is very easy to use. Overall, it has a very nice touch to it though we would still want to reserve final judgment until the product gets released and sold across the world. Nonetheless, the Transformer sounds promising and very interesting so you might want to stick around to see more about its functionality.
