Android Gingerbread Sat Nav Systems
Parrot has debuted three new Asteroid hands-free navigation systems; the Asteroid SK, the Asteroid Nav, and the Asteroid 2DIN.
Each of them offers voice control. The Parrot Asteroid CK runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with a 3.2-inch TFT screen, and it also incorporates iPod/iPhone input. It features no less than three USB ports, SD/SDHC media and in-line, and it also enables drivers to access apps or web radio, which are streamed thorough Bluetooth or via USB-tethering. For your audio pleasure there’s also voice-controlled album search. An integrated 4x45W Mosfet amp is included, as is a remote control, and the Asteroid CK also offers hands-free calling so you can concentrate on the road.
The Parrot Asteroid Nav has a 5-inch touchscreen and has navigation software pre-installed, including real-ime updated maps and numerous geo-location services. The same music connectivity options are offered as for the Asteroid CK, and automatic phonebook syncing. USB or Bluetooth can be used to connect to the Internet, and there’s also WiFi. A steering wheel-mounted remote control completes the package.
Lastly, the Parrot Asteroid 2DIN sports a 6.2-inch TFT multitouch-enabled touchscreen, and can do anything the Asteroid Nav can, and offers in addition reverse camera support, more chice for input and output, and allows users to broadcast video to separate rear-seat displays. That’s a pretty comprehensive set of abilities. Those extra connectivity options include video in- and output, twin audio outputs, subwoofer output, and a emote control.Pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed, but the Google Android team should be proud of itself.
