All information about Nokia N900/Nokia RX-51 – HERE!
If you are regular visitor to GadgetMix.com, you must have wondered why we haven’t posted anything about this cellphone+MID combo. Well, call us lazy, but we were actually planning to do a mega post about the N900
What is so exciting about Nokia N900 MID?
More powerful CPU = More processing power!
Nokia has upgraded their CPU from TI OMAP 2420 processor which ran at 400MHz to TI OMAP 3430 ARM Cortex-A8 CPU that runs at 600MHz clock speed. This will make everything more faster. This also means better web-experience as you will have to wait less for the heavy web-pages to load.

1GB memory for the Apps
Nokia now lets the apps to take upto 1GB of memory when running. However, there is a catch. In reality, it is just 256MB+swap memory. Still, one can run huge and heavy apps without any problem.
So, for whom this device is made?
Well, the people who loved MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices) will simply adore it. Many people who have owned Nokia MIDs in the past (N800 or N810) wished to have cellular-capability in their MIDs. Now, they can have the same MAEMO OS with which they are already accustomed to as-well-as cellular capability which will allow them to get online even if there is no WiFi hotspot in their scope.
However, to make the device a bit more portable, Nokia decided to shrink the screen size to 3.5-inch. Fortunately, they kept the resolution same. Unlike some tech-websites, where the authors complained about the low WVGA (800×480) resolution, we are not going to yammer about it. Why? We feel that WVGA is perfect for 3.5-inch screen and anything more than that would cause eye-strain as it would result in extremely high pixel density.
Ginormous storage
Nokia has put in 32GB of flash storage on this baby, which is maximum capacity that you get on the iPhone 3Gs. If in case, you find need for more storage, all you have to do is to get a micro-SD card for yourself and you are done!
Camera
Granted, most of the MID users do not care if their MID has camera or not. But, since N900 is also a phone, having a good inbuilt camera makes perfect sense. It comes with a 5MP auto-focus camera equipped with Carl-Zeiss lens. It can also record video @ 25fps at 848×480 resolution which is commendable.
Price
It is priced at 500 Euros or let’s say it like this: its price is 200 Euros cheaper than the iPhone 3Gs.
What we do not like about the Nokia N900?: The keyboard
Fine, the keyboard is fine for entering short URLs easily, but we do not know why Nokia dropped the dedicated numeric keys.
Battery
It comes with a standard 1320mAh battery. Since, it has a more powerful processor under its hood, it eats the battery faster than its older generations.
Other notable features
Unlike first generation of Android OS devices that did not feature a SIP (soft input panel) and solely relied on the hardware keyboard, the Nokia N900 also has an onscreen keyboard (picture courtesy: mobile-review)
It has TV-out functionality too:
Removable Battery
Now why are we mentioning removable battery? After an year or so, the battery starts to wear out and do not hold the charge as expected. In case of N900, you won’t need to send it to the company like Apple to get the battery replaced as it is in the case of iPhone and iPod Touch.
There is another advantage of removable batteries: you can get extended batteries for cheap online.
