AMD Ontario (benchmarks)
AMD is working hard on its newest chip that is intended to be used on netbook, tablets and low-powered devices. Even a genius is regarded as a crackpot if he does not hits the jackpot. Yes, AMD is the same company which had “no interest in making processors for netbooks”.
Now some more details about processor – it has two x86 cores based on Bobcat architecture that has built-in DirectX 11 graphics core and DDR3 memory controller. And here is an interesting claim from AMD – these Bobcat products are sub-1W capable.

The Ontario processor has been benchmarked at the Hardware Infos [link]. The benchmarks compare this AMD processor with the dual-core Atom D510 and two other AMD processors.

As it can easily be seen, the Ontario is almost twice as fast as the Ontario. However, it consumes more power too. Ontario uses 18W whereas the Atom D510 13W. Looks like, we will have to wait for some more time to see how Ontario fares against the new Atom D525 dual core processor.
