Home made iPad
Here is a story that warms your techie heart. Wei Xinlong, student of Changchun University in China decided to build an iPad for his girlfriend. She wanted one and he couldn’t afford it, so he downloaded few how to manuals, checked out some youtube vids and got started. Wei bought a touchscreen, battery, an old laptop for spare parts, RAM, processor, hard drive…etc and viola, a home-made tablet was born.
China Daily interviewed Wei and this is what he had to say:
“You can read, download, watch movies, and play games just by touching the screen.”
Wei’s iPad runs Windows 7, does most of what an iPad should do and it cost him some 800 yuan ($125). Sun Shasha, Wei’s girlfriend, is indeed a lucky girl.
