50 million euro settlementRIM makes out first check to Nokia for $66m settlement for patent dispute initiated by Nokia.

Both companies agreed to a 50 million euro settlement just before Christmas. Blackberry maker also agreed to making further patent fees to Nokia.

Nokia wanted to stop distribution of yet unreleased Blackberry 10 devices in United States earlier last year, pending the litigations over unlawful use of Nokia patents. RIM settled with Nokia with one time payment of 50 million euros plus ongoing royalty fees making it about $5 per Blackberry sold.

New Blackberry 10 devices are to be introduced at the end of the month.
