Asus ROG Strix Radeon RX 560 EVO graphics card launched
Asus has just introduced its new ROG Strix Radeon RX 560 EVO graphics card.
Before you gets your hope up, this new model is the worst of entire ROG gaming range. We know that the ROG Strix names represented something important to the brand. Both were associated with top-quality products, with large overclocks and associated performance. And I say “represented” because Asus seems to have an intention in ruining its brand image with this new graphics card. Why do I say this? Because what is mounted on this RX 560 is actually a Polaris 11 graphics core. Yes, yes, the same Polaris 11 that mounted the Radeon RX 460. Basically, they have done the impossible for the graphics to consume as little as possible and, thus, saving the extra PCIe power connector, taking all the power you need from your own PCIe slot.
If we start with the graphics core, the Asus ROG Strix Radeon RX 560 EVO employs a trimmed core with 896 stream processors, instead of the 1024 usually worn by the Radeon RX 560. If this sounds to you, it’s because same that uses the Radeon RX 460, the model of the previous generation.
But things do not end here, since the operating frequencies are also below those of the AMD reference model. Thus, the Asus model has a base frequency of 1,149 MHz, with a boost that reaches up to 1,187 MHz. Compare now with the model frequencies of the reference RX 560, which are 1,175 MHz base, and 1,275 MHz boost.
The memory is not released either, down from the 7 GHz GDDR5 of the reference model to the 6 GHz of the Asus model. At least, the Asus model has 4GB of memory and not 2GB like other models in the market. It also maintains the 128 bit bus.
Do not tell me that this graphic card, with that name and surname is not a total contradiction? It is assumed that a ROG Strix graphics should be a good representative of your line of graphics cards. And it is clear that this model is not. Asus has not revealed when it will start selling it. There is no word on its price tag.
