Google Announces the Android 6.0 and Two Nexus Phones

Google recently announced they are going to be releasing two new Nexus smartphones in the near future. These phones are called the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, and will be much different than previous versions of Nexus. For starters, the phones are going to have the new Android 6.0 operating system. This is the latest version of the popular Android OS created by Google. The nickname for Android 6.0 is Marshmallow.

Besides the new OS, the phones will have better quality cameras, improved fingerprint sensory technology on the rear, bigger batteries, and new power saving options that will be included with Android 6.0. However, another change in the OS that IT managers and business users will appreciate are the enhanced security options. Users will now be able to keep their personal apps and business apps separate from each other. This kind of feature used to be available through add-on software and apps that you would have to download, but now users will be able to have the feature built right into the operating system.

Business people and workers are always struggling to separate their work related apps from their personal apps. Often times, workers will end up accidentally sharing sensitive company information through a private email, or sometimes even sensitive personal information through a corporate email. You have probably heard about stories where people end up accidentally sharing personal selfie pictures or even nude pictures of themselves with people they didn’t intend on sending them to. Well now, this problem will be avoidable in the new Android 6.0 because you can finally keep your personal data separate from your work data, and vice versa.

The LG Nexus 5X will have a 5.2 inch display screen and will be priced at $379 if The LG Nexus 5X will have a 5.2 inch display screen and will be priced at $379 if you purchase the standard 16GB model. As for the Huawei Nexus 6P, it will have a 5.7 inch display screen and priced at $499 if you purchase the 32GB model. Both come equipped with 64-bit processors. The phones were available to purchase starting at the end of October. The majority of the people purchasing these new phones are businesspeople, since the new features cater more to their needs. They are also more likely to afford the purchase because it is work related, which can be claimed as a deduction on their income tax. As for laypeople, they may still want to upgrade their Android phone to the newest Nexus model just to try out the latest Android operating system.

Android smart watches get in time with iPhone

Android smartwatches are starting to become known amongst consumers and tech enthusiasts. But some people are unsure about the differences between Android smartwatches and other brands of smartwatches, like the Apple Watch. Those who enjoy Apple over Google may not want to switch to Android Wear just to try out a different operating system. Well it seems that Google may have a way to solve this problem because they are releasing a new version of their Android Wear software that is designed for Apple’s “iOS” mobile operating system. Android Wear for iOS will be available for the LG Watch Urbane. In the future, there will be other Android Wear smartwatches that will support the Apple iOS. Some of these watches will be Asus, Huawei, and Motorola. Google plans to keep people informed on the latest developments in these future releases.

This latest move seems to be Google’s way of competing with the highly awaited Apple Watch. When people put on one of these Android smartwatches, it will be able to communicate with their iPhone because of the iOS integration. Now people who are predominately iPhone users can now purchase another Android device and use them together. Before, consumers generally had to stick with one brand. If they bought an Android phone then every other device the purchase had to be Android as well. The same went for Apple users too. People with iPhones needed iPads, iPods and so on. When Android Wear was first released it was only able to work with a Google operating system. But with this new ability for Android Wear to communicate with an iOS, it opens up all kinds of possibilities for cross brand communication.

Right now the fitness tracker Fitbit is the top selling smartwatch with Apple Watch coming in second place. It would be very hard for Android to make itself stand out amongst these top two competitors unless they did something unique with their smartwatches that no one else has done. This new move by Android will likely be the thing that keeps their watches selling and keeps them stable in the marketplace. For one thing, Android Wear is only $100 whereas the Apple Watch starts at $500. Most people are not going to pay $500 when they can pay $100, especially if it will communicate with their existing iPhone. The one bad thing Apple has going for it is its prices. They are always the most expensive computer brand on the market. Since smartwatches are not really that popular to begin with, it is unlikely that consumers will keep shelling out $500 for the newest Apple Watch. Therefore, Google has a strong chance of getting their Android Wear ahead of the game.

Difference between Android and IOS OS

While supporters of both operative systems have their arguments to choose their platform, look how they work, what they have in common and the difference in both systems.

  • Interface design

During 2013, Apple had brought flat design which has a minimalist approach, and instead of the button in the back, they use movement coating left – swipe. Apple is successfully forcing their programmers to make flat designed applications, but Google makes his story with material design in the AppStore applications.

On the other hand, with Lollipop 5.0, Google has changed their design. Applications from Google factory got a new design, more layers, animations are a lot different, and everything is much simpler. Even Google redesigning their application is very good, other application manufacturers are not doing that, at least not like Apple where this is very expressed so that IOS remains clearer for users. However, as Android is concerned, it is likely to change as Lollipop support is growing and a greater number of devices will be using new applications.

  • Multitasking

Access to Multitasking option is one of the biggest differences in these two systems. Google multitasking shows like cards that overlap one over the other and by scrolling cards comes up to the application. Applications are easily distinguished because they are separated with colours, and the header of each card shows the name and logo of applications. The disadvantage of this system is that it does not show screen content in the application, which might be convenient when you need it again to see some information, number or phrase.

As far as the IOS 8 system, by double clicking on the circular button you get the Multitasking menu, in which the open applications are arranged next to each other. On a full screen, it is displaying a large application icon below the screen, and the content on them is somewhat readable. On the top of the screen are the most frequently used contacts, which immediately from there, you can send a message or make a call. To turn off applications, you have to move your finger up, and a large number of applications requires more scrolling through the display.

  • Widgets and notifications

Android has long been unrivalled in this category, and the first one that had menu notifications which you need to pull down from the top of the edge with your finger. To add a widget, you need to search in widget menu, and then it is possible to add on home or lock screen.

Widgets are finally available with the last big IOS update, and it offers capable Dropbox or Evernote plugins. Notifications are behind Android capability because they don’t allow turning off the specific notifications, and IOS notifications only have the specific range of automatic responses for some applications.

Google Keep for Android Wear Now Lets You Take Notes and Set Reminders From Your Wrist

The Android Wear operating system for smartwatches is becoming popular amongst consumers. The cool thing is that Google is constantly releasing apps for the Android Wear which allows you to perform more tasks with your smartwatch. Google Keep is one of the most popular apps for your Android watch. It lets you organize your notes, photos and lists within the application. In fact the newest update to the device is said to allow users to become completely independent from having to use their smartphones for these kinds of tasks.

Those who are new to smartwatches might be wondering how you actually type words into your notepad. As you probably guessed, smartwatches do not have virtual keyboards that you can text or type in letters with. Instead they rely on the user speaking into it with their voice. So when you launch Google Keep on your Android Wear, you can just create a new note for yourself by speaking the words into the device. Those verbal words will then get translated into written speech and get saved automatically as a note in the program. You can also create written lists and attach pictures to them as well.

A new feature to Android Wear is its “always on” ability. Usually apps will shut down after you drop your arm in order to conserve the life of your battery. With the latest Android Wear update, apps will still turn off after you drop your arm but they will turn back on after you raise your arm to look at the watch. This comes in very handy with Google Keep if you have to constantly look at your watch to check the notes you have written down. For example, let’s say you made your shopping list and put the list into Google Keep. If you want to check off items from your list, you no longer after to restart the app to get to your list after you put your arm down. You can just go right back to the list and continue where you left off by simply raising your arm back up.

If you currently own an Android Wear smartwatch then you should be receiving these updates to its operating system automatically. This means you don’t have to run out and purchase a brand new smartwatch just to get this new feature. Google Keep is one of many exciting apps that are available for the Android Wear watch. Check out the Google Play store to discover more of them.

Google’s wireless service might have just leaked

google-logoGoogle has certainly been very innovative with its computer technology. The company has already come out with their own laptop, which has had great success in the consumer marketplace. They have also developed the Android operating system, which is one of the most popular operating systems for smartphones. Now Google may be coming out with their own wireless service for Android smartphones. Their service, Sundar Pichai, was announced at the Mobile World Congress. Google mentioned this wireless service would be on a much smaller scale in comparison to the bigger mobile carriers like AT&T and Verizon. In fact they are going to buy spectrum from these big carriers and then repackage it under their name in order to create their own mobile virtual network.

The official information about the service is still limited and Google has yet to announce more information. However the Android news website, Android Police, may have found leaked information that contains nearly every detail about Google’s mobile network project. Android Police found a Google app called Tycho that was unreleased to the public. It was located inside the Nexus 6 firmware at MotoFireware.center. It was likely an accident that it ended up there because it was taken down quickly. But it was up long enough for Android Police to collect a lot of vital information about it. They found out the wireless service’s code name is “Project Fi.” People who use the Tycho app for the service will be able to use it to manage details about their plan, take care of billing details, activate accounts and close accounts. It seems like consumers will only have to pay for what they use, so if you have unused data on your plan at the end of the month then it will be credited back to you. But if you go over your data limit then you will be charged a flat rate for the numbers of gigabytes over you go.

These are just some of the details discovered by Android Phone. The details seem promising enough because it looks to be an affordable alternative to the more expensive carriers that require contracts. If this really ends up being a pay as you go type service plan then it could very well put some other prepaid carriers out of business. Of course this is all speculation right now because Google has not officially released these details yet. But if Android Phone’s discovery turns out to be true, then Google could very well be a fierce competitor to a number of mobile service carriers.

One Of The Best Android Phones Will Be Super Cheap Next Month

Android phones have become popular for a variety of reasons. Not only are they easy to use, but they are also the most affordable Smartphones on the mobile marketplace. But this doesn’t mean you can’t wait until they get even cheaper. The newest Android Smartphone will be cheaper next month because Motorola is offering a $140 discount off any purchase on their website that is $499 or more. This means you can get a 64 GB Moto X with no contract for only $360, instead of the retail price of $500. This is Motorola’s best Smartphone yet with lots of memory and completely free of all bloatware. If you want to get a less expensive Motorola phone with more accessories, you could get the 32 GB version of Moto X with a case, charger and wallet case for only $375. This is about the same price as the 64 GB Moto X without the accessories. So it really all depends if the extra memory is worth more than the accessories. Of course, you can still shop around on the Motorola website and try to find your own unique combinations of items to purchase at a discount.

To take advantage of this special discount offer, you have to register at the Motorola website in order to receive the special promo code. Unfortunately, this registration opportunity was only available on February 2nd between noon and 1PM. For those who already got the code, they have until February 14th to use it. However, people who do not have any promo code can still take advantage of some good discount opportunities on the website. You can still get $100 off any $500 purchase, and you can even get $35 off any $250 purchase. These discounts are not as big as the other one, but they are still considerably generous and will save you some good money.

Motorola is a brand that has always been able to merge quality with affordability. Their newest phones have large high definition screens, fast computer processing and a Google Now feature. Best of all, the Motorola phones contain the latest version of the Android operating system. This means you will be able to download apps from the Google Store and play them on your device. Therefore, if you are looking for a super cheap phone then you better take advantage of these discounts quickly before they run out. You never know when Motorola will have another discount opportunity like this one.

Mozilla’s Firefox OS Phone Comes to India

India is a relatively poor country, which is why Google announced that they were going to sell their inexpensive Android One Smartphones there. Whenever there is a new product market, you can be sure that competition will follow. That is why it should be no surprise that Mozilla’s Firefox OS Smartphone will be available in India and sold through the website SnapDeal.com. Most people are already familiar with the Mozilla Company because they have been using their browser, Firefox, for years now. But, it was never expected that Mozilla would enter the Smartphone marketplace and become a competitor, especially to Google. But, Mozilla developed a unique plan to offer their Smartphones at the incredible low price of $33 each, which is about 2,000 rupees in Indian currency.  Many people around the world might think that a $60 Android phone is cheap enough, but most people in third world countries will still consider $60 to be a lot of money.

Now remember that Mozilla is only creating the operating system, Firefox OS, for the Smartphone. The actual phone that the operating system will be on is called Intex Cloud FX. This economical phone will have memory options that expand up to 4GB. It will have a 3.5” display screen, 1.0 GHz of processing power and dual SIM features. Then, of course, it will have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, data monitoring and language support. When Google was confronted about the Cloud FX, Google’s senior vice president talked about how the Android One will have a 4.5” display screen and an SD card, all for under $100. In other words, they were trying to say that the Android One is more high tech than the Cloud FX phone. However, the reality of which one will do better goes back to economics. A poor person in India will probably have a hard enough time scraping together $33, so they aren’t going to care about saving more money to get a phone with a bigger screen and a bit more memory. Although, speculation from Google suggests that they believe their upscale Smartphone will perform better in the Indian market. The iPhone did something similar in the American market when they made an expensive iPhone 5 with lots of features and then a more affordable version with less features. The result was the more expensive iPhone outselling the cheaper version. Then again, this was the American market. India has a completely different consumer base that traditionally has valued inexpensive products that give a decent user experience. So, the results of the Cloud FX Firefox OS Smartphone will be quite interesting.

Magic Bluetooth Speaker

The advancement in Bluetooth technology has spawned a new kind of speaker that will totally blow your mind. This speaker is called OM/ONE. Not only does it play music wirelessly, but it is basically a floating orb that spins around while playing music. The Bluetooth technology in this device will be able to connect to tablets, Smartphones and computers. Now in order for it to float, it has to be hovering over its base support. However, the orb will still play music if you take the orb off its base, but it won’t be able to float or spin without it. There has been no information released yet as to how the orb is able to float, but critics have speculated that it has something to do with special magnets in the base and orb. When the orb is away from the base, you can toss it around or put it in your pocket and it will still work. The OM/ONE can even be used to make conference calls because it has a built-in microphone inside the orb. On a single charge, the orb should be able to stay powered for a total of 15 hours. That gives you plenty of time to use it in a party or conference call setting.

Financial backers of this development will be able to get it for around $179 while non-backers will have to pay $199. There has been no official release date for the product, but people who preorder will be guaranteed its delivery by the end of the year. The big question is, “How many people will want to preorder this?” The floatation technology of the orb is visually appealing, but there is no certainty as to whether or not this affects the quality of the audio. Whether you use this orb to play music or make calls on, it always helps to have clear speakers when audio is played through them. There has been no announcement about the quality, so people still have to wonder about that before they preorder. Even if you get the speaker at $179, it is still a lot of money to spend on a small speaker that simply looks cool. So, the price factor may deter people away from purchasing it. On the other hand, there are techies out there that love to purchase the newest technological gadgets, even if they aren’t perfect in quality. So, it will be interesting to see the outcome from the sales of this device.
