About time I say! Microsoft drops the price of their Surface RT tablet to $350.
Running the Windows RT (metro) OS, this tablet has not been selling that well for Microsoft. For one, the Windows RT is an ARM based tablet, which means that most of Windows software and apps will not work on this tablet. Furthermore, the tablet is hardly comparable to iPad, yet the initial asking price for Surface RT was $499. Optional keyboard would put you back by another $150.
There are tablets out there running full Windows 8 OS and well specced for about $350. Lenovo IdeaTab Lynx comes to mind. Now, Microsoft Surface RT tablet with 32GB of internal storage can be gotten for $350 starting on Sunday July 14th. The 64GB model will set you back by $449. For more info see Staples.
Microsoft has been testing the popular Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor on Surface tablets and if all goes well we may see a decent tablet for the money. Knowing Microsoft however, keeping the same $350 price on S800 model of Surface RT may be a wishful thinking.
