Google’s Ara Phone Delayed

The new Google smartphone “Ara” has been delayed by the company until later this year. The delay is most blamed on iterations in its design quality. As you may know, the Google Ara is going to be a modular smartphone. This means that users will be able to put together parts on the phone or replace parts that break without having to get technical support. For example, if you were to drop your smartphone onto the ground and the screen got cracked, normally you would have to send the smartphone back to the manufacturer under a warranty and they would fix it for you. With the Google Ara modular smartphone, users will be able to replace the screen on their own. All they will have to do is slide out the old screen and slide in a new screen. It will be significantly cheaper to just purchase a spare screen than it would be to fix or replace an entire phone. If this modular smartphone were to be released, it would help people out in so many ways. People who purchase $500 smartphones will no longer have to worry about dropping their phone or spilling something on it. Users will also be able to upgrade their phone by simply replacing older parts with newer parts. Then they won’t have to go out and purchase a whole new phone just to get simple upgrades on things like cameras, speakers and so on.

Google originally had planned to give a trial run for its modular smartphone, nicknamed Project Ara. The trial was supposed to be done in Puerto Rico during the fall of 2015, but the Project Ara team decided that it would be better to choose a different location in the United States. All of this was announced in a series of recent tweets published by the heads of this project over at Google. The project is still going to be completed, but just at a later date. Obviously, consumers are very interested in this new smartphone style that has never been seen before. Once it does get released, it is predicted to have more sales than the newest Apple iPhone. The only question is, “What will the features be on the smartphone?” Even though you can take parts off and put new ones on, will the parts be powerful to run the phone or will they be substandard? Consumers and critics still have questions like these that are bound to get answered in the future.

Better Battery Life? Huawei Creates a Super Fast Charging Battery

The one thing Smartphone users complain about the most is their poor battery life. With all the sophisticated apps out these days, they can drain the power of your Smartphone battery pretty fast. Then you have to find an outlet and spend the next 4-5 hours charging the battery of your Smartphone, which means you cannot use it during that time. Since people can barely put down their phones for more than 2 minutes, this makes it very difficult for them to conduct their daily affairs in a fast and convenient manner.

However, impatient Smartphone users might see their prayers answered after all. The technology company “Huawei” claims it has developed a lithium-ion battery for Smartphones that charges 10 times faster than the regular batteries. Huawei is already known for creating Google’s Nexus 6P, which is supposed to charge faster than other phones on the market. But the problem most Smartphone manufacturers have is they are still using lithium-ion batteries in their mobile devices. Mobile technology manufacturers are racing to be the first ones to create something better than the typical lithium-ion batteries that are in the current mobile devices.

Huawei’s new lithium-ion battery features a new configuration which allows it to charge up to ten times faster than other lithium-ion batteries. If this proves to be true then it will attract more people to Huawei’s line of wearables, handsets and other mobile networking devices. The tech company already revealed its quick charging batteries during a video presentation last week at the 56th Battery Symposium held in Japan. They demonstrated to the spectators how a 3,000mAh battery that has a 620Wh/L energy density can be recharged to almost 50% within 5 minutes. They also demonstrated how a 600mAh battery could be recharged to 68% in just 2 minutes.

Huawei seems very optimistic about their recent innovation. This fast charging battery could be used in electric vehicles, mobile phones, wearable devices, digital cameras, and any other mobile device that requires battery power. However, the company is not just stopping here. Their dream is to create an even faster charging battery. They claim they want to develop a battery that could be fully charged while the user is on a short coffee break. This could mean 5-10 minutes at the most, instead of the 2-3 hours it takes for modern day batteries to charge. If everything goes well then Huawei may be selling their batteries to all the major mobile phone manufacturers, so they can put it in their own technology.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820

There has been information teased to the public about Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 820 computer processor. Some of the information revealed has indicated there is an updated graphics processing unit and an image processing unit, which could significantly improve the quality of future smartphone cameras. The Snapdragon 820 is the next high end mobile chip that will appear in smartphones, virtual reality headsets and tablets during the first half of the year 2016.

Qualcomm has a lot of money and hope riding on the future success of the Snapdragon 820. The company’s current processor, the Snapdragon 810, was already dropped by one of its biggest customers. Qualcomm has not released the name of that customer to the public, but rumors suggest it was likely Samsung because they are using an in-house processor in their new Galaxy S6 smartphone instead of a Qualcomm processor. If this partnership between Qualcomm and Samsung has really ended, then Qualcomm will either need to attract Samsung back to using their processor or they will have to find a totally new company to use their processor. It will all depend on the success of Snapdragon 820. If the processor fails to get picked up by any of the major mobile technology companies, Qualcomm could be in very big trouble.

Qualcomm first introduced the Snapdragon 820 earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress. They talked about their plans for a new 64-bit CPU core that will be called Kyro. Then more recently in Los Angeles at a Siggraph graphics conference, Qualcomm mentioned its visual computing components will be integrated next to its CPU. The GPU will be called Adreno 530, which contains new graphics architecture never used before with previously CPUs. The company says it will give up to a 40% greater performance boost than the previous Adreno 430. It will also use 40% less power as well, which is great news for those who love energy efficiency in their mobile processors.

Even though the Snapdragon 810 did not make it to the Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone, it was still used in many other devices. Some of these devices include HTC One M9, LG Flex 2, Sony Xperia Z4 tablet and the Xiaomi MiNote Pro. Chances are that the newest versions of these devices will include the latest Snapdragon 820 processor. Since this gives Qualcomm a variety of different mobile manufacturers to work with, it increases their chances of staying strong and surviving the very competitive CPU market.

Apple TV Features Games

apple tv

There is a lot of anticipation about the new Apple TV device, which is compatible with almost every smart television. People who regularly use Apple products and software will certainly appreciate Apple TV because it will connect them to their digital Apple products through the television. So instead of having to watch movies on the laptop or computer monitor, users can see them on a much bigger television screen.

One of the key features that Apple is going to focus on with their Apple TV product is its gaming functionality. They are aiming to generate better graphics with more power for the device along with a new remote control that could be used as a gaming controller as well. Then if people want to play the games they purchased at the app store through their iPhone, they can play them on their Apple TV. They will also be able to purchase new games on their Apple TV.

The starting price for the Apple TV is predicted to be about $150, which is a good price when you consider all of the features and convenience you will be getting. However, there has been some speculation generated by the New York Times about how analysts and game executives think it will be difficult for Apple to compete with other gaming consoles, like the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One. That is why the Apple TV will likely only be popular with those who use Apple products already. That way they can benefit from the convenience of using them on their television. But for those who use personal computers and Android devices, it will have to take a lot more than gaming features for the Apple TV to attract them.

Apple is one of the biggest brands in computer technology. They are continuously trying to compete in all aspects of the tech marketplace. Remember that Apple TV is not a service like Netflix, so there won’t be any monthly fees involved. All you have to pay is the initial purchase price. Then you just hook the Apple TV box up to your smart television and you are good to go. Of course, you will need your own internet connection which does cost a monthly fee. But if you were to install a router in your home then you could share your existing connection with your computer and Apple TV. If you have a Wi-Fi connection then you could enable your mobile devices and Apple TV to have the internet as well. Therefore, the Apple TV may sell just on the basis of its affordability. We shall see what the future holds for it.

Apple unveils larger iPad, new keyboard

The Apple iPad is a tablet device that is basically a bigger version of the Apple iPhone. The difference is the iPad has a much bigger screen and cannot exactly fit in your back pocket like an iPhone. But people still like to use iPads because they are mobile and more convenient to use than a laptop. Up until now, iPads and other tablets contained a virtual keyboard for typing messages on the device. Sure there were keyboard plugins you could purchase, but there was no keyboard that came with the device. Now this is about to change because Apple just announced the development of a bigger iPad that is going to have its own keyboard and stylus.

The iPad Pro was announced recently by Apple CEO Tim Cook. It was revealed that the tablet will have a 12.9-inch screen and will perform similarly to a desktop computer. The keyboard attached to the iPad Pro is going to be a smart keyboard, which folds out from the back of the tablet. That way you can easily put the keyboard away and still carry it around with the tablet. Then when you sit down at a table and want to use the keyboard again, you can just unfold the keyboard right out in front of the screen. It is almost like a tablet and laptop hybrid, except that it is more of just a tablet with a new keyboard attached. For those who still want to tap the screen or use a virtual keyboard, a stylus will come with it. This stylus has been nicknamed “Pencil.”

Speculators are saying that the iPad Pro is going to be great for businesspeople who want something lighter to carry around with them instead of a laptop. The screen is also large enough to where it is on the borderline of being considered a tablet versus being a laptop. But most people put tablets in their briefcases or carrying bags anyways, so the size of the tablet is not really going to be an issue. The convenience of a keyboard will definitely be attractive to businesspeople that are not talented at texting on a screen while using their fingers. Some people just need to type on a traditional keyboard because it is faster for them. So if Apple markets this product to businesspeople, it will likely become a big seller in that market. As for casual users, they will probably keep their current tablet.

Google is introducing a new device OnHub

Since its inception, Google seeks to simplify the complicated technology end-users, actually since it was started and has made a real revolution with its Google Internet Search. The last thing that it introduced is a new OnHub device that Asus produces. OnHub device is essentially an enhanced wireless router, easy to use for everyone. Wireless routers are generally kept to the side, out of sight, as they are mostly nondescript, and not particularly user-friendly.

Asus OnHub is there to change these disadvantages.

Thanks to a simple and very beautiful and elegant design, the Asus OnHub could fit into any interior. Depending on your internet package, it brings faster internet connection with wireless devices in its network, and using Google On application for android mobile phones, you will have more options to control the flow of the Internet in your home than ever before. Asus OnHub introduces new technology, Wace Control, which allows users to speed up the Wi-Fi connection to a device by simply waving your hands above your Asus OnHub device.

Google will also update the software, adding new smart antenna algorithms, which should significantly improve the performance of the device.

Pre-order Asus OnHub device began last week and expected price is around $220.

UMi introduced Iron Pro, 3GB of RAM and retinal scanner

The company UMi presented a couple of smartphones this year, including eMax and Iron models. The latest in a series of UMi device is also the most powerful – Umi Iron Pro.

UMi Iron has 3GB of RAM and retinal scanner, and the company decided to introduce Pro version of this model. Iron Pro is very similar to “ordinary” Iron model, but it has a few tricks up his sleeve.

UMi Iron Pro looks identical to UMi Iron, even it has the same dimensions. But Iron Pro has a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port. As for the specs, nothing has changed in this field. UMi Iron Pro has a 5.5-inch Full HD display along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory and slot for microSD memory card. The device starts MediaTek MT 6753 64-bit octa-core processor with Mali-T720 GPU. 13Mpix camera (Sony IMX214 sensor) is located on the back along with dual-LED flash while on the front is the camera of 8Mpix (OmniVision OV8858 sensor).

The battery of 3.350mAh is also present, and there is a support for 4G LTE (1800/2100/2600MHz). This is a device with support for two SIM cards, allowing you to use two Nano-SIM cards or a Nano-SIM with microSD card (up to 64GB). Iron Pro is equipped with Eyeprint ID sensor (scanner of the retina of the eye), which adds another level of protection for the device.

As for the software, the device comes with Android 5.1 (Lollipop) operating system. UMi added a couple of their applications and support for the gesture, but there are not many applications that would unnecessarily slow down the phone.

UMi Iron Pro is made of metal and it will be sold at a price of only $179.99.

Bigger is better: 8 reasons to choose iPhone 6 plus

iPhone 6 plus screen is so big that you will have to buy a whole new wardrobe that you can carry it in your pocket, but it also features the brand new opportunities that we did not expect, some of them are not even on iPhone 6. Despite the fact that it cost an additional $100, iPhone 6 plus will appear on the shelves armed with features that make it not only larger than iPhone 6, but better. Here are 8 reasons why the iPhone 6 plus is better than iPhone 6:

  1. Bigger and stronger display

It was not a metaphor when Tim Cook said that Apple will introduce the most progress in iPhone history. iPhone 6 plus has a huge 5.5-inch screen and it is not only larger that iPhone 6, it has a greater number of pixels with 401ppi compared to 326ppi. This beast has 2 million pixels. This is 183% more pixels than a puny iPhone 5S. It is like TV in your pocket, which is almost as hard to hold in your hand, but you will have fun games, movies, websites and applications like no iPhone so far. And not only that 6 plus screen is bigger, his “Ion-reinforced glass” is more durable than iPhone 6 glass.

  1. You can throw away your tablet

iPhone 6 plus solves the needs of many users for tablets, it has a faster processor than the iPad Air and iPad Mini. Some of the exclusive iPad functions, as a split keyboard, are included in 6 plus, along with the beautiful horizontal applications and horizontal home-screen.

  1. The fun factor

iPad Mini has a small screen, but it is still higher than many paperback novels that you can take with you to café, and a long reading on the iPhone 5S is a painful experience. iPhone 6 plus, on the other hand, may be the best reading device that Apple has ever made, and not to mention playing games.

  1. Phablets are becoming increasingly popular

Apple did not comment on which the quantity of iPhone 6 plus will be available in the beginning, but the reports indicate that the amount could be limited in the first few months. In addition to production problems, there is increasing popularity for phablets worldwide. Sell of 5.5-inch smartphones could jump from 175 million in 2014 to 318 million by the end of the 2015. Smartphones with the big screen are perhaps just a fad, but Apple will earn on it a lot of money, half of those surveyed said that they are planning to buy Apple phablet this year.

  1. Battery life

There is not a big difference between battery life in the iPhone 6 and 5S, but iPhone 6 plus comes with a significant gain, with 10 hours more of 3G talk time compared to the iPhone 6, and 30 hours more when listening the audio. Apple users who are tired of being lonely, they will definitely be delighted with the battery in 6 plus.

  1. The best camera

Optical image stabilization might not sound like an important function, but it will be one of the most important features that many iPhone 6 customers will consider before making a purchasing decision. The enhanced camera is the most attractive hardware upgrade to the iPhone 6 plus in addition to increased resolution, but will it be enough convince to buyers to find a way to squeeze in their pockets?

  1. New features UI

The idea that Apple will add an abomination “one-hand mode” such as Samsung, is scared a lot of Apple fans, but Apple’s solution is actually pretty great. Instead of darkening parts of the screen, a simple double-tap on Touch ID sensor will reduce all from the upper half of the iPhone screen and drop to the lower part, at your thumb touch. The horizontal keyboard has the option to cut, copy and paste, and extended horizontal applications will offer more content than iPhone 6.

  1. Purses worn around the waist – known as “the pack”

Do not think that you will be able to push the iPhone 6 plus in your jeans? Matthew McConaughey is the best guy in Hollywood, and he swears in his purse. “I am not afraid of the purse. Somehow, you have to put aside to look a little less geeky, but still convenience wins”, says the man who has just been nominated for an Academy Award and Emmy Award in the same year. The Rock also carries a purse, although nobody told him that Steve Jobs turtleneck and silver chain are optional.
