Archos android tablets CES

Finally some quad-core tablets from Archos! Both Platinum tablets Archos 80 Platinum and Archos 97 Platinum HD run Allwinner-A31 ARM Cortex-A9 chips.

Archos 80 Platinum is an 8 inch tablet with a 1024 x 768 pixel IPS display, available in March starting at $169.

Archos 97 Platinum HD features a 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel IPS screen. It looks and feels very much like iPad. Doubled resolution in 9.7-inch tablet shows better color saturation and improved viewing angles. There is also a dual-core version available for this Archos 97. The tablet will be available in March for $329.

Both Archos 80 Platinum and 97 Platinum HD sport quad-core 1.2 GHz processor and unnamed 8-core graphics. There are two cameras both 2 MP. The storage should be at least 16GB, expandable by microSD (not confirmed).

The operating system on both Archos tablets is android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Both tablets look and feel great, although some improvement in performance would be welcome. From what we hear, Archos is still polishing up their version of Android for this particular ARM chipset.

The Titanium lineup of Archos tablets also consists of Archos 70 (7-inch) tablets (from $119) and Archos 101 (10.1-inch) tablets (from $199).

Archos also features an oversized 13.3-inch Archos FamilyPad 2 tablet at CES. Follow CES 2013 news!
