iPhone 15 will use WiFi 6E

Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo has confirmed that the upcoming iPhone 15 will be making use of WiFi 6E standard. In a report on Apple’s work on a Wi-Fi chip, Ming-Chi Kuo said the company will upgrade the iPhone 15 to Wi-Fi 6E.

This will not be the first time Apple would be using WiFi 6E on their iOS device since it is already being used on iPad Pro models released in 2022. The new Mac mini and MacBook Pro 14/16 also make use of this new WiFi standard.

With compatible routers and cable modems, Wi-Fi 6E devices can connect to the 6GHz band, providing faster connections, lower latency, and less interference than standard 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Wi-Fi 6E is the first Wi-Fi standard to allow 6GHz connections, since the previous Wi-Fi 6 standard was still limited to 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.

Let’s be real here – Wi-Fi 6E is becoming more common, and to take full advantage, a Wi-Fi 6E router is required. A range of companies, from Netgear to Asus to Linksys, are already selling Wi-Fi 6E hardware.

Other rumored iPhone 15 features will include USB-C connectivity, a faster 3nm A17 chip in the Pro model, periscope lens technology from the highest-end iPhone 15, solid-state volume and power buttons, an upgrade to titanium, and the expansion of Dynamic Island to the standard iPhone 15 series.
