Remap the Panel button of Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 [Windows Mobile]
Do you want to use the Panel button of the Xperia X1 for something other than launching the panel interface? There is a way to do it, but certainly not the most user-friendly way. It involves registry editing and messing up the registry can have undesirable effects, which may involve committing hard-reset.
Here are the steps to do it:
- Get a registry editor for windows mobile. If you use Resco Explorer, you can use the free registry editor that comes with it. PHM Registry Editor works fine too
- Go to HKLM\Software\SonyEricsson\PanelManager\ApplicationName. Here application name is the name of the application
- Make sure you point directly to the actual EXE and not the shortcut file (lnk)
- Make sure the path is in the following format. “\..\” should be there as prefix in every case.
“\..\Windows\pword.exe”

My panel button has actually stopped working and I think it may be something to do with the registry. Is there any way of doing a reverse version of the method above in order to use my panels via the panel button again. Is there another way to access the panels other than the designated button?
