IE 11, up to 4 snap app views on the same screen, customize Start Screen on Modern UI, smaller and resizable tiles and other improvements are expected to be featured on new Windows Blue.
Rumors of new Windows version have been circling around. Microsoft is allegedly working on adding features to Modern UI to make sure users don’t have to leave it for desktop UI just to make few changes. For example, the ability to customize the Start Screen on Modern UI would be welcomed. Word is you’d be able to swipe up from the bottom in your Modern UI to reveal list of apps. In Desktop UI the same swipe will show desktop app bar that will let you know which apps have snap view. Developers will be able to customize apps to the snap view.
UI improvements also include new “play” option in Devices Charm, new screen shot option in Share Charm, new tab sync feature and deeper SkyDrive integration to allow camera photos to be automatically uploaded into your SkyDrive cloud.
According to leaked screen shots, Windows Blue has smaller tiles. Much like Windows Phone 8, the new Windows Blue will have tile sizing enabled. Windows Blue will enable up to 4 apps displayed on one screen as ‘Snap Views’. Internet Explorer 11 will be launched with this new version.
These are of course first beta version images; much of it may look and act differently when it is out later this year. Check out this hands on video of Windows Blue by WinBeta.
