Acer Iconia Tab W510 is thus far the cheapest Windows 8 tablet hybrid. W510 is sporting Intel’s new 1.8GHz dual-core Atom Z2760 Cover Trail processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Storage is expandable by microSD card. Ports are USB, microUSB, and microHDMI. Battery should last 9 hours, but with optional keyboard dock one gains another 9 hours. That is 18hrs on a charge!

W510 features 10-inch IPS LCD touch screen display with 1366×768 pixel resolution and 155 ppi pixel density.

There is a premium 5MP camera capable of 1080p video with autofocus.

Price isn’t the only thing that makes W510 stand out. Notice how tablet can be turned around so that you can use it as a tablet and still utilize extra ports and battery life with keyboard dock attached. Acer Iconia Tab W510 is the cheapest entry Windows 8 hybrid and for $500 (32GB model) it is a bargain.

Acer Iconia Tab W700 is slightly larger sister with 11.6-inch IPS LCD full HD screen with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 190 pixel density. 1.8GHz dual-core Ivy Bridge chip with Intel HD 4000 gpu and 4GB of RAM. Smallest storage is 64 GB and 128GB is available. 5MP camera records 1080p videos. WiFi is 802.11 a,b,g,n, at 2.4GHz frequency. There are USB 3.0 and Micro HDMI ports. Front facing 1.3MP camera can shoot 720p videos, while 5MP front facing camera records 1080p videos. Iconia Tab W700 starts at $800.

Asus Transformer Book is another Windows 8 tablet of superb quality in built and specs. It sports 11.6, 13.3 or 14-inch full-HD touch screen. Book features powerful 1.9GHz Intel Core i5 (or i7) cpu, Intel HD 4000 gpu, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 128 GB SSD (256GB is optional). Storage is expandable by microSD Card.

Peripherals include two USB’s 3.0; mini-DisplayPort, Micro-HDMI and LAN port.

The battery on the tablet lasts 5 hours with keyboard dock you’d get full 8 hours. Apart from additional 500GB HDD, and Ethernet port, keyboard dock adds unwanted 900 grams of weight. Tablet itself weighs 950 grams.

There is a front skyper, but rear 5MP (720p) camera is optional. Connectivity on this detachable notebook/tablet is taken care of by WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR. Price is yet to be announced.

Dell XPS 12

Dell XPS 12 is a low end priced powerhouse. Based on popular Duo, XPS 12 Windows 8 convertible notebook. XPS 12 is run by 1.9GHz Intel i7 with Intel HD 4000 graphics, 4GB DDR3 RAM and 256GB SSD.

XPS 12 weighs 3.3lb. 0.95-inch thickness makes this convertible tablet an ultrabook.

13.3-inch (1366 X 768) LED LCD Gorilla Glass touchscreen rotates 180 degrees around its horizontal axis. WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 will connect you, but there is no cellular connection available.

Battery life of 5.5 hours is fairly standard for touch enabled ultrabook, but it can be extended by much if you dim down that super bright 400-nit screen.

Dell XPS 12 starts at $1200.
