There are 2.6 billion internet users today, but by next year there will be 41 percent household using internet. Next billion of internet users should be added within just 3 years. How do we use internet and how will we use internet in future? Let’s take a closer look at this infographic provided by internetserviceproviders.
In last quarter of 2012 there were some 217 million smartphones sold. That is more than the entire population of Brazil, the fifth most populated country in the world. Smartphones also sell better than any other mobile computers. That means that in time there will be more people accessing the internet via smartphones and other wearable technology, than those with desktops and notebooks.
Wearable technology is slowly but surely infiltrating the masses. 28 percent of people asked in the survey said they would buy a smartwatch and most of these people would specifically buy an iWatch. Google Glass project is nearing the realization stage and we’re hoping the Glass will become commercially available by the end of the year. 12 percent of people said they would buy the Glass.

In total, if these guesstimates are to be believed, we’re soon going to have about 125 million people accessing the web using wearable gadgets. That’s 40 percent of population of US.
Most of the new connections to the internet in next few years will no doubt come from developing nations like China, India and Indonesia. Largest growth is expected in Africa.
