  • Sharebar

UMPCs have never been embraced by the mass market due to their high price tags. But, HCL India is experimenting something interesting with the Indian market: selling a UMPC for $300 (Rs 15,000). Yes, HCL is selling its MiLeap V-series UMPC which comes with Intel A110 processor, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD and runs Windows XP. This UMPC comes with a swivel screen that enables the user to use it in tablet mode.

The same model used to be sold at around $800 (Rs 40,000) few months back and now, it is being sold at very low price of $300. According to netbooknews.in, it is selling like hot cakes now which clearly shows that UMPCs can be accepted by mass market if they are reasonably priced.
