More than 50 percent Main board failures in OQO O2 and E2

  • Sharebar

There is a poll going on in the OQOtalk forum (most popular OQO community) regarding the Main Board failures. Quite shockingly, the poll is reflecting some really strange results. More than 50-percent people had to get the main board changed atleast once. Some users had to get their OQO’s main board changed twice in an year.

Clearly, this reflects the poor manufacturing quality of the OQO. Too many failing main boards are not expected from a product that costs $1000+. Couple that with the EXTREMELY poor customer support and bleak future of OQO (canceling all OQO 2+ orders), things do not look so good for the current users.

I have an OQO O2 and I had to get my main board change not twice, but thrice in an year. Damn u OQO!

First of all, thank you Kamal from bringing this much needed topic to light. Looks like other websites have been lured by OQO dudes and do not post about this issue. I do not want to enlist those sites, but they know that I am talking to them.

OQO customer support is next to ZERO. Pathetic. Now, we are going to be left alone after OQO goes bankrupt. Whom are we going to approach if something goes wrong with our $1000 plus umpc?

Looks like I will soon have to move to something better. VAIO p comes to my mind, but I am gonna think twice before shelling out thousand dollars to a company which does not treats its customers well

  7. [...] Times are pretty tough for OQO fans — the struggling company appears to be on the brink of collapse, the Model 2+ is unlikely to be produced, and now we’re hearing that main board failures on Model 2s that have shipped are distressingly common. That’s at least the word according to the OQOtalk forum, whose members are currently gathering data on the situation — and the early trends sadly reveal that the 1.6GHz model is extremely prone to failure. Of course, it’s not exactly the most scientific poll in the world, but you wouldn’t expect such harsh results from users on a fansite unless something was up.
