HTC is NOT working on an iPad-Killer
HTC confirmed last Friday that they have no plans to produce a slate-type device in the coming future. This is despite earlier rumors which gave hint to an Android or Chromium tablet. One thing is for sure though – the day HTC decides to penetrate into the tablet market, it will do so with something that will shake the iPad tablet world.

Here is what Eric Lin, HTC’s Global PR had to say about it
“We are always looking at it, but, right now, the whole idea is that in order to be successful with a tablet, you need to have something compelling. And not just a compelling form factor. You need to find that compelling use, that compelling story, that one compelling feature. And we are not going to do anything until we have found thatâ€

It really wouldn’t be that hard to find a compelling feature that the iPad lacks….flash, camera, video, multitasking, a CLOCK…..I’m surprised that HTC’s PR department would issue this statement and I wouldn’t be surprised if a tablet that FAR outperforms the iPad hits the market in the near future….my guess is around the holidays.

PS: HTC did churned-out a tablet 2 year back, but was not able to get much success with it. The tablet/MID (Mobile Internet Device) came with Windows Mobile 6.1 and featured a huge 5-inch display. I am talking about HTC Advantage
