How To – Replace HDD with SSD in Archos 9
One of the main reasons why people find the Archos 9 slow as a tortoise is chiefly due to its slow HDD. So, swapping the HDD with a fast SSD should definitely make the unit faster. Folks at archoslounge have posted pictures on how to remove the HDD from the unit and replace it by a SSD and the results are satisfying.

The SSD should have the following characteristics in order to be compatible with the Archos 9:
- 1.8-inch drive
- ZIF interface
- UDMA 5 (40 pins)
- Thickness of 5mm
The author has suggested few RunCore SSDs, like the Pro Series IV (RCP-Z1816-IV-C and RCP-Z1828-IV-C). The price of the SSD is a bit steep; starting at 130 Euros for the 32GB SSD and goes upto 385 for the 128GB one.
The difference is eye-popping!
