Toshiba Satellite U840 Launches In Oz

The Toshiba Satellite U840 14-inch ultrabook has arrived down under, selling around the $1700-mark (AU$ 1499), although notebooks are quite expensive in Australia. Should a US launch be planned, the U840 will very likely come in a fair bit lower. The U840 is Toshiba’s second model in the ultrabook sector – the 13-inch Portege Z830 and Z835 start from $799.

The Satellite U840 features a 1366 x 768 resolution screen with a low-voltage Intel i5-2467M CPU, a robust 8GB RAM, and a backlit, spill-resistant keyboard. WiFI and Bluetooth are both included, and the usual ultrabook combo of one USB-3 port and a pair of USB-2′s is also provided. The storage solution follows the hybrid path – a 16GB SSD for the OS and a few choice pieces for software and a spinning 320GB hard disk.
