SONY VAIO P – 3 new models running Windows 7: VGN-P39VL/Q, VGN-P31ZK/R and VGN-P31ZK/Q

SONY has silently unveiled 3 new models that run Windows 7 OS. The VGN-P39VL/Q is the new top of the line model that comes with the mighty Intel Atom Z550 CPU that runs at the clock speed of 2GHz. It uses 128GB SSD for storage and has the usual 2GB RAM. It will be available in only one color: black. OS: Windows 7 Professional

Second and third models are VGN-P31ZK/R and VGN-P31ZK/Q, both of which run slightly slower Intel Atom Z540 processor (1.86GHz). Both run Windows 7 Home Premium, which means they won’t have XP compatibility mode. They use 80GB hard disk drive instead of SSD. VGN-P31ZK/R will be available in red color and VGN-P31ZK/Q in black.

Fujitsu LOOX U UMPC – now with 2GHz Atom processor

Fujitsu has added the option to equip the Japanese version of the U820/U2010 with a 2GHz Z550 Atom CPU, thus making it one of the most powerful UMPCs/netbooks till date. You can still opt for the 1.33GHz or 1.6GHz processor, if you wish to.

Z550 Atom processor reaches 2.0GHz

Information about two Z-series Atom processors was leaked today. One is 1.2GHz processor (Z515), which is extremely power-frugal and consumes just 1.4W when running at full power and as-little-as 0.65W when scaled back to 800MHz clock speed. However, with all these fancy low number, you will have to bear with slower 400MHz system bus and a 100MHz slower graphics core.

The second Atom is the first one to achive 2GHz clock speed (Z550). Interestingly, it still consumes 2.4W of power which is same as consumed by the 1.86GHz version.

The Z515 will be targeted at the low-powered MIDs and low-cost netbooks. Onviously, the Z550 will be targeted towards hi-end netbooks.
