EKing MID now in slider form factor
EKing is soon going to debut its new MID in the market that sports a side-slide form factor. The MID currently runs Windows XP, but can run Windows 7, if that is what you want. Brimming with several connectivity options like 3G, WCDMA, CDMA2000, it is equipped with a nice 5-inch display packing 1024×600 pixels and that means the display will be ultra-sharp.
Saycool M5A
Sinchum has launched a new MID, M5A which sports Intel Atom Z515 1.2GHz processor and 5-inch WVGA display. It comes with built-in GPS and 3G radio. The company claims 3 hours of runtime from its 1900mAh battery and has not told the media when would this MID hit the market.
Now, here is a feature that we are unsure of – the company says that it can double as a phone too! Who wants to put a huge brick on their greasy face?
Atom-powered Sinchun Saycool M7 MID
These Chinese manufactures surely do make interesting UMPCs and MIDs. Take a look at the Saycool M7 MID by Sinchun, which sports a 7-inch 1024×600 multi-touch display and uses the extremely power-frugal Atom Z510 processor that allows it to run Windows 7.
Other specs include a gig of RAM, 16GB SSD, 0.3MP webcam, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Unlike Apple iPad, there is a USB port too! (pun intended). However, battery life is nowhere close to iPad – 3 hours with its 1900mAh battery.
Archos 9 finally available
Archos 9 is now finally available in the market. It is one of the first tablets in the market that come with Microsoft’s Windows 7 OS. Archos 9 has a 8.9-inch LED backlit 1024 x 600 resolution and comes with 60GB hard disk with the option to opt for the higher capacity 120GB hard disk. At 500 euro, it may be a bit expensive, but then it is not a netbook. It is a tablet with netbook-innards. How? Because it runs Atom Z510 processor that runs at 1.1GHz clock speed. It also has 1.3MP webcam, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and WiFi. Its Lithium-ion battery should give you a run time of 5 hours.
That said, we think it is big and heavy to carry around. Weighing 800 grams and having a big screen won’t be easy as carrying a netbook where the screen is always protected by its lid.
