CULV or Intel Atom processor: A Comparison

From the past couple months, we have seen an incredible rise in the usage of the CULV processors in the notebooks, especially the ultra-slim ones from MSI.(MSI X400, MSI X610, HP DM3, Wind U120 and so on)

CULV processors are more powerful than the Intel Atom processors even at lower clock frequencies. However, there is one thing that has stopped most of the manufactures NOT to use it in their netbooks: PRICE.

I feel acutely that once Intel and AMD, reduce the prices of the CULV processors a bit, most of the netbook manufactures will opt for equipping their netbooks with these more powerful CULV processors instead of Intel Atom CPUs.

MSI Wind U150 Netbook coming – based on Pine Trail – has touchscreen

MSI’s first Wind tablet netbook, MSI Wind U150 is soon going to be launched officially. Its going to be an 10-inch tablet convertible that will use the new Pine Trail platform. The screen will be resistive touchscreen. The MSI Wind U150 will run Windows 7, however it won’t support multi-touch. Perhaps, MSI wants to keep multi-touch for high end models.

Some information about the upcoming AMD-powered U120: It will be released in the first few weeks of September in the US. It will be available in two models: One with Windows XP, 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD, for $379, and another with Vista Premium for $429.

Note: For those who do not know about Pine Trail, it is the successor of Intel Atom processor
