Meet the netbook that answers your calls as well – Meet LG Synergy netbook

Netbooks have become more talented and multifaceted, but this out of the box thinking by LG is even more interesting: A netbook that tightly unites with your cellphone.

Amazingly, if your phone is around your netbook, then your netbook does the work of your phone as well. You will get all messages and phone calls via netbook to you and can respond or reply via netbook as well. No details have been released about the netbook, apart from it’s codenamed “Synergy”. It looks like it will have an 10-inch display, a Webcam, WiMax and Windows XP Home.

This is what the Palm Foleo should have been. For those, who are not aware of the Palm Foleo, it was the Palm first (and last) attempt at making a Linux based netbook that was supposed to be used as a companion device with your smartphone.

It will be retailed at $149 with 2 year contract.

Earlier, we heard about Sony offering the Atom Z550 processor, which runs at a clock speed of 2GHz. Now, SONY Japan is giving the option to equip VAIO P with WiMAX radio. Unfortunately, not whole world can get a VAIO P with the built-in WiMAX radio.

It is great to know that one can now get a more powerful VAIO P by getting it with a faster SSD; a more powerful Z550 processor and WiMAX! Now, if they could lower down the price a bit, it would be perfect.

Soon to be launched: Samsung WiMAX MID AKA SWD-M100 AKA Mondi

Soon to be launched: Samsung WiMAX MID AKA SWD-M100 AKA Mondi

Samsung is all set to launch SWD-M100 (Mondi) in the US. The design is similar to Nokia N810 which is also a slider MID. I am personally a big fan of slider MIDs as you can hide the keyboard when you do not want to use them. However, there is one thing that sets the M100 aside from the rest of the MIDs available in the market. It runs Windows Mobile 6.1 and it will come with Opera Mobile for the web-browsing as the IE in WM 6.1 is only good for mobile websites. Here are its specifications:

  • 4.3-inch screen
  • WiMAX
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Micro SD card slot
  • 3.0 megapixel camera
  • 256MB of ROM
  • TV out

It will only be available from Clearwire in the US.

Commentary: The main question that comes to minds of a lot of people: Is it going to be successful with Windows Mobile 6.1 as its OS? Personally, Windows Mobile is not a bad choice at all especially with so many productivity applications under its belt. Perhaps they should go with the WM 6.5 which offers IE mobile 6 and better interface.
