Robovie PC Robot

Robovie PC Robot

First of all, don’t be surprised to a robot news on Gadgetmix.com. We are not changing niches anytime soon. The reason why Robovie got mentioned on gadgetmix.com is the fact that this robo ‘netbook’ is powered by an Atom processor. Huh? This is actually not a robot, but a robot with netbook innards. It comes with an Intel Atom Z530 processor that runs at 1.6Hz, slightly faster than Z520 that comes in entry-level VAIO P (review). For OS, you can install either of these four operating systems: Windows XP, Vista, 7 or Linux.

A webcam resides in place of its ‘eyes’. It has 2 USB ports, LAN and VGA out. It is powered by a 2000mAh battery and it weighs 2.2kg. It is being priced at $4500 (including tax) (388800 yen!), it is made to burn a real good hole in your pocket.

The only thing that is robot-like in this machine is the fact that you can program its legs. For that you must use Windows as Linux is not supported. Its legs has high maneuverability and can adjust its height by bending his legs.

Patriot P8880E is the newly launched MID tha sports a slider design. It has a 4.8-inch touchscreen display with WVGA resolution (800×480). It comes with fairly underpowered Atom Z520 processor that runs at a clock speed of 8000MHz. It has just 512MB RAM and 8GB solid state drive.

The P880E comes in two colors: pearl white and black. It measures 152x80x21.6mm and weighs just 320gm. It has WiFi (b/g), Webcam (0.3MP) and runs Windows XP Home. It comes with built-in 3G module and costs 5699 yuan ($834)

Its weight, as mentioned earlier, is just 320gm, which is twice the weight of your cellphone (that does not runs Windows XP, pun intended)

Red Fox WizBook 890i unveiled – in an Advertisement pamphlet though

Red Fox has unveiled a new netbook, WizBook 890i, which sports a bit out-of-date specifications. It has an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 8.9-inch screen 1024×600 resolution, 1GB RAM, 3-cell battery (3800mAh), 120GB HDD, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and built-in webcam.

There is a higher version of the Wizbook 890i model too in which you get a 2GB of RAM and 250GB HDD. According to the pamphlet, it will come in only one color: Red.

Commentary: We totally agree that it is a no-frills netbook, but we are very sure that there is a decent market for these 9-inch models. Many people are finding the current crop of netbooks too big to carry around and this is where these (affordable) 9-inch netbooks fit in.

F88 Netbook – packed with VIA Nano CPU, VX855 chipset & HDMI port!

From outside, the F88 netbook looks a lot like the Asus EEE PC 1002HA, but from inside, it is quite different. It uses a VIA Nano CPU (instead of an Atom processor) and VX855 chipset. It also comes equipped with an HDMI port which is capable of outputting HD video, which is also absent in most of the netbooks. Other than that, it comes with 802.11b/g/n Wifi, a 1.3MP webcam and Bluetooth (optional) and 3G (optional).

Meet the Macbook Air clone – GB X1200

Meet the Macbook Air clone – GB X1200

At a trade fair in China, a Chinese company is displaying a netbook that looks a lot like Macbook Air (to some extent). You will find an 12.1-inch screen with 1280 x 800 pixel display on this unit. Its touchpad has a single large button below it. That is where the similarities ends.

From inside, it is just another netbook as it comes with an 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB HDD. It runs Windows XP, has 2 USB ports and a 1.3MP webcam.

Sony announces VAIO W, the “Internet Book”

Sony announces VAIO W, the “Internet Book”

Sony has just announced the VAIO W, which sports the exact same specs as any other netbook in town. Not surprisingly, Sony is referring the VAIO W as “Internet Book” as Sony hates the word ‘netbook’. When the VAIO P was launched, Sony emphasized on the fact that VAIO P was not a netbook as it offered *better* features than the netbooks around. However, same cannot be said about their new netbook as it sports standard netbook specs (except for its high resolution screen).

Specifications:-

  • 10.1-inch LCD (1366×768)
  • Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB HDD
  • GMA 950
  • W-LAN
  • webcam
  • Bluetooth
  • Windows XP Home Edition
  • 3.5-hour battery pack
  • 267.8mmx27.5mx179.6mm

Sony has used the same keyboard that it uses in its latest VAIOs: chiclet-style keyboard, which is nice thing to know. It has made its debut in Japan and will soon be launched in other parts of the world. Expect the price to be around $630, which is around $200 than the other netbooks with similar specs. But hey, it is a Sony (Sony = Not cheap)

HP launches Mini 5101 – Inspired from VAIO TZ?

HP launches Mini 5101 – Inspired from VAIO TZ?

HP has launched the Mini 5101 netbook, which looks more professional than almost any netbook ever launched. Although the Mini 5101 comes with same basic specs, but it comes nicely dressed in aluminum and magnesium coating, which adds a bit of class to it. Also, it is nice to see that left and right click buttons are now placed below the trackpad.

It comes with a 7200 RPM HDD, Bluetooth 2.0, 2 megapixel webcam and a 10.1 inch LED screen. You have the option to choose between non-HD (1024 x 600) and HD (1366 x 768) resolution. You can even opt for a SSD (128GB), otherwise it comes with a 80GB HDD. It will be available in July with a price tag of $449.

It looks like HP designers took a lot of inspiration from the VAIO TZ design and the end product is pretty sharp-looking. Also, I have always been huge fan of keyboards of HP netbooks and this is no different. I absolutely adore that large right shift key!
