Virgin Freedom Netbook review

Virgin Freedom Netbook review

We mentioned about the Virgin Media Freedom netbook back in July and finally, I was able to get my hands on this netbook for a short while. This netbook comes with an 10.2-inch screen and weighs just about the Acer Aspire One (1.1kg). It has 120GB HDD, 0.3 megapixel webcam. It runs the aging Intel Atom N270 processor and has (boring) Windows XP on board.

Virgin Media launches “Freedom Netbook”

A lot of cellphone providers have started offering “connected” netbooks with build-in 3G or mobile broadband these days. Now, the Virgin Media is now offering “Freedom Netbook”, which is basically just like many other netbooks that you are familiar with. It comes with an Atom N270 processor, 1GB RAM, Windows XP OS, 120GB (not 160GB) hard disk.

Unfortunately, the “Freedom Netbook” comes with a 3-cell battery which should just last you around 2-2.5 hours with active use. Weighing at just 1.1kg, it comes in 2 colors: “Virgin red” or black and is bundled with “Virgin Media” wallpaper and screensaver.

The Virgin Media’s netboook is available for free on a 2 year contract. On a side note, they have also slashed the price of their 50MBps data plan to 38 pounds from 50 pounds.
