SkyCross iMAT Antennas improve WiFi, Bluetooth’s performance

SkyCross has come up with an iMAT Antenna for netbooks and which claim to improve the WiFI and Bluetooth performance

“Chip makers are very encouraged by this breakthrough, and manufacturers are already planning to use the SkyCross iMAT solution in their future products,” said Joe Gifford, Vice President of SkyCross. “Our antennas differentiate netbook brands by maximizing their connectivity range and enabling optimal simultaneous functionality at an equivalent price, which pleases consumers. Why you must consider Windows 7 OS upgrade for your Asus EEE T91?

Why you must consider Windows 7 OS upgrade for your Asus EEE T91?

ASUS EEE T91 is the ASUS first attempt to see if there is enough market for the netbook tablet. ASUS itself doomed its T91 tablet by equipping it with a slow CPU.

There are two things that bugs the users of T91 the most while using XP:

1. Awful implementation of right click in XP
2. Pathetic touchscreen tools and apps that bog down the system without much improving user experience

If you install Windows 7 on the ASUS EEE T91, things and experience will improve dramatically. The speed is as good as Windows XP and brings in excellent tablet functionality. The right click mechanism is much more intuitive and has better on-screen keyboard.

Moblin 2.0 BETA officially released – Tailormade for Netbooks

Moblin 2.0 BETA officially released – Tailormade for Netbooks

Moblin.org has officially released Mobile 2.0 BETA. The Moblin OS is tailor-made for Atom-powered netbooks.

The best part about Moblin is that it is Open-Source version of Linux and can be used with almost any processor. The Moblin is based on Fedora-based Linux. The Moblin 2.0 OS includes Firefox, Open Office, GIMP and Skype.

Unlike Ubuntu Netbook Remix, which supports only 1024 x 600 resolution, the Moblin 2.0 OS supports upto 1920 x 1200 resolution. The director of Intel’s Open Source Technology Center says,

We would like to invite and encourage everyone to test the beta. We feel the code has reached a level where both developers and enthusiasts can play with it. While fine tuning, bug fixing, and polishing is ongoing, so is performance improvement, all of which you should start seeing rolled into the weekly builds.

Sandisk launches SSDs for netbooks – pSSD P2 and S2 SSD

Sandisk launches SSDs for netbooks – pSSD P2 and S2 SSD

We have waited long enough for Sandisk to make its entry to the netbook market and they have finally unveiled pSSD P2 and S2 SSD. The S2 SSD offers 9000 vRPM (virtual revolutions per minute). Both of these new SSDs use a new technology called nCache which basically allocates a dedicated 320MB for caching which improves the overall performance.

Both of these SSDs are available in 8, 16, 32 and 64 GB capacities.

“Canonical is enabling original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and designers (ODMs) to offer consumers a fantastic user experience with Ubuntu Netbook Remix running on netbooks,” said Chris Kenyon, director, OEM services, Canonical. “Our tests have shown SanDisk second generation pSSD equipped with nCache performing significantly better than a 5400 RPM HDD, providing Ubuntu users with the speed and stability that they need.”

“All-day battery life is critical in the netbook space, where OEMs carefully evaluate each component for optimal energy efficiency,” said Glen Burchers, marketing director, consumer segment, Freescale. “Like Freescale’s i.MX51 processor, SanDisk’s pSSDs are designed with power management in mind, thus addressing critical market requirements.”
