HP ProBook 5310m packs CULV chip – shipping in Europe
This HP new netbook may give you a glimpse of business netbook, but it comes with a CULV chip that is becoming more and more common in the netbooks and ultra-portables these days. However, that has not stopped HP in using those processors in this sleek netbook with aluminium chassis touting a pretty chicklet keyboard.
There are several variants for 5310m. You can go for Celeron SU2300 dual-core or Core 2 Duo SP9300 CULV processor. The RAM capacity ranges from 1GB of memory (SU2300) and 160GB of storage to 4GB of memory (SP9300) and 320GB of storage. The SP9300 model has many other goodies including 3G connectivity. The entry level version comes with FreeDOS and is listed over €500, while for around €1000, you get high end model that comes with SP9300 processor.
Where most CULV notebooks carry a glare/glossy screen, the ProBook 5310m is surely an exception on that list. Several SKUs of HP’s 13-inch ProBook 5310m have already started shipping in Europe.

11nm CPUs in five years, says Intel
Intel will be switching over from the current 32nm process, introduced in Q4 2009 to the new 22nm process in Q4 2011, if everything goes according to their plans. The company’s roadmap talks that, it will stick to its two year per node plan. So going by Intel’s plan, after 22nm it should be 15nm process in Q4 2013 and then in Q4 2015 it should be 11nm. The plan also include CPUs, 80% smaller than 11nm, might be 7nm.
What this means to us?
- Smaller CPUs, more space for other equipments
- Smaller netbooks/ultra portables

Gateway EC18T – Is it a netbook on steroids?
Here is a 11.6-incher from Gateway, which does not contains any of the netbook ingredients. It comes with a Core 2 Duo processor, upto 4GB RAM and Intel GS45 graphic chipset. Also, it seems that Gateway is now done with Windows Vista and XP on their netbooks and ultra portables and perhaps this is the reason they are bundling Windows 7 Home Premium(or Basic) with it.
Pricing information is not known, but we have a couple of pictures for you. Click on read more to see the pictures of this new tablet netbook from gateway

Gateway LT3100 netbooks uses AMD processor
Gateway has launched LT3100, which uses AMD Neo processor along with the ATI Radeon X1270 graphics. The AMD Neo is the processor that the AMD specially made for the ultra-portables. Since, lines between ultra-portables and netbooks have become blurrier than ever, it makes perfect sense to use the processors meant for ultra-portables in netbooks (and vice-versa).
It comes with some features that are not usually present in usual netbooks. For example, unlike most netbooks that come with 1GB RAM, the Gateway LT3100 comes with 2GB RAM. It also comes with massive 250GB HDD (most netbooks come with 160GB HDD). To power this powerful netbook, Gateway has equipped it a 6-cell battery. Also, it seems that folks Gateway were so impressed with LT3100 that put in a Vista Basic instead of Windows XP. It will be offered in two colors: NightSky Black and Cherry Red. It is pretty modestly priced at $400.
