ASUS EEE T91 officially unveiled!
Asus has finally unveiled its first tablet EEE PC, the T91, which is equipped with an 8.9-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution. Since it is a tablet, the display swivels around and can then be used in tablet mode. The ASUS has bundled several applications to make the touch experience better for the end user. ASUS calls these applications together as “TouchSuit”.
Here are some applications that are bundled with the TouchSuit:
- FotoFun: This is for managing and editing pictures
- Memos: This is for jotting down handwritten notes that can be stuck on the desktop
- Touch Gate: This lets you switch between different interfaces on the fly (XP Mode, Widget Mode and Touch Mode)
- IE Toolbar: This toolbar allows you to easily zoom in/out of web pages using your finger
It weighs just 0.96kg, which is pretty light for a tablet netbook. However, the only thing not to like about it is the non-user replaceable battery.

SmartQ 7 – a super sleek Internet tablet
The SmartQ 7 runs an unspecified Linux distro with specs that include WiFi, a USB-host mode, stereo speakers and claims to have 2 days of battery life (considering you run only music on it). It has 7-inch display with just WVGA resolution. I do not know what the folks at SmartQ thinking when equipping this super sleek device with such low resolution. The standard resolution for the MIDs and netbooks is 1024 x 600, which makes everything very enjoyable and usable.
With so many Windows Mobile phones now coming with WVGA displays, it makes perfect sense to equip the MIDs with higher resolution than the phones to give them an obvious benefit.

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1008HA officially launched
The ASUS has unveiled the very corporate-looking EEE SeaShell 1008HA, which is the thinnest EEE PC till date. It weighs just 1.1kg; features a great keyboard and has impressive power-management features, which gives you upto 6 hours of battery life.

- 802.11b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth

- Windows XP / Linux
- Stereo Speakers
However, keep in mind that it comes with an internal battery. So, after an year or so, you will have to send it back to Asus to get the battery changed. Also, it completely rules out the use of extended batteries.

EEE PC T91 for just $549! – ASUS to redefine the price range of Tablets?
Looks like ASUS is really going to make the tablets finally popular among the consumers. Let’s face it, tablets have always been confined to the executives and businessmen. The main reason that the tablets were not received nicely in the consumer market was due to high ‘price’. But, with the $549 price tag, ASUS has hit the sweet spot between functionality and price.
Also, we have heard that ASUS has added few really exciting utilities that are very finger friendly. This is already looking like a winner to me.
