SONY VAIO X specifications – runs Atom CPU and costs $1300 – has anemic battery life

SONY has finally uncovered the specifications of the VAIO X. We now know that it runs Atom Z550 CPU which runs at 2GHz clock speed. Weighing just 1.6pounds (0.7kg), it is very light given its size. It is infact lighter than the first generation ASUS EEE PC (70x series). It is also just 0.5-inch thick. Featuring an 11.1-inch display, it packs the usual 1366×768 pixels. The display is LED backlight too and uses the infamous Intel GMA 500 chipset, which does not behaves nicely when running HD videos (so far). It also incorporates GPS so that you never get lost again. It uses 128GB SSD for storage and has 2GB RAM.

Just like VAIO P, it has two memory card slots: Memory Stick Pro and SD card slot. VAIO X runs Windows 7 Home Premium (which means no XP compatibility mode for you).

Currently, we do not know what processor is being used in this notebook/netbook. It was earlier shown with Intel Atom processor, but we expect it to change to some CULV processor upon its release.
