Sony Vaio W Billabong coming to US
A week ago, we mentioned the colorful Sony Vaio W Billabong edition which was made official in the Australia. But, now Sony is offering it in the US too. It is already available for pre-order on Sony Style store for $499.99.
For those who do not know, there is no difference between the standard Vaio W and the Billabong Vaio W other than the colorful lid present on the latter.
Sony Billabong Edition Vaio W Netbook
These days, consumers care a lot about style and design of their netbooks and notebooks. Vaio netbooks have always been the trend-setters when it comes to style. Sony Australia has released a Billabong Vaio W, which has a trendy “Imperial Lime” lid. It also features Billabong content – images and videos from a TV series.
The specifications have not undergone any change compared to original Sony Vaio W -Intel Atom N470 processor, Windows 7 Starter, 2GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch LED screen, 1366×768 pixel resolution, Ethernet, USB 2.0 (x2), and a built-in webcam. It is quite pricey though – AU$749 ($619)
VAIO P, VAIO W and VAIO X Available in new colors
Sony’s ultra-portables are now available in new colors. The popular Vaio X can now be bought in silver color. Vaio P’s color range now includes a hot pink color that will surely attract a lot of ladies for sure.
The pine trail Vaio W has got a whole body color treatment, which means that black one will have black touchpad, black bezel and so on. Vaio W is available in black, pink and white.

Sony Vaio W eco-friendly edition unveiled
Sony has gone eco-friendly with the launch of their latest netbook, which is actually an update to the existing Sony Vaio W. So, what makes the latest netbook by Sony more eco-friendly than the other netbooks? First is the use of mercury-free display with LED backlight; use of recycled plastic parts; eManual and a carry bag which saves 10% carbon dioxide emissions.
While most of the aforementioned reasons may sound pretty baseless and won’t be affecting the buyer’s decision much, Sony says that it will be offering a “special price” of this Vaio W. Let’s hope they come up with some more lucrative feature because going eco-friendly won’t fetch them more customers.
Specs have been improved in a sense that it now comes with Intel Atom N450 processor (1.66GHz) instead of Intel Atom N280. Other specs: Windows 7 starter, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 10.1-inch display, 1366×768 resolution, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth, Webcam. Weighs 1.32kg with its small 3-cell battery
Commentary: Make the 6-cell battery as standard, without bringing any change in the price tag.

Sony PCG-21212L is the SONY VAIO W plus Gobi2000 WWAN radio
A ‘new’ Sony Vaio W netbook was noticed at FCC. The only feature that is new in this upcoming netbook is the that it now has built-in 3G WWAN. It will come equipped with Qualcomm’s Gobi 2000 WWAN radio to let you surf over the HSDPA network.
Rest of its specifications are likely to remain intact. Sony Vaio W is the SONY’s first cheap netbook that comes with Atom N280 CPU, 250GB HDD, 2GB RAM and Windows 7 Starter. The only thing not to like about this netbook that it comes bundled with 3-cell battery. Try getting one with 6-cell battery and you will be all set.
SONY VAIO W Signature Edition – with Snowflake motif
Signature edition of SONY VAIO W is now available. It features a unique snowflake motif. There is a slight change in specs too. It comes with (bigger) 250GB HDD and 6-cell battery.
Other than that, specs have remained unchanged: 1GB RAM, Windows 7 Starter, Atom N280 (1.66GHz), WiFi and integrated Bluetooth radio.
Indian SONY VAIO W updated wiht Windows 7 and bigger HDD and more RAM
SONY India has updated the VAIO W with more RAM (2GB) and bigger Hard disk (250GB). Also, now it comes with Windows 7 Starter edition instead of Windows XP.

Sony launches new VAIO W: W12S1E – well, kind of
Sony is now offering its Vaio W netbook with Windows 7 operating system (starter edition). Other than that, the hard disk capacity has been increased to 250GB. Rest of the specs have remained the same. It is available for pre-order for £399. Shipping will commence on 10th November, 2009.
Sony Vaio W to be stylized with Designer Lids in Japan
“Sparkling White” is the new color that is now being offering by Sony Japan. Also introduced, there are three designer lids for Sony Vaio W netbook. These designer lids add $50 more to the overall price.
The VAIO W is an over-priced netbook by that uses Intel Atom N280 processor and has 1GB RAM. It uses a small 3-cell battery and costs $500.
