Plasma Workspaces updated for Netbooks
A new version of Plasma workspaces for netbooks has crawled-out that brings 1723 new features and fixes 16022 bugs. For those who do not know, KDE is the default workspace for core Linux distros like Mandriva Linux, openSUSE and Slackware.
The improvements include:
1) Notification Area has been spruced-up. It now features monochromatic icons that give amazing visual clarity.
2) Zooming User Interface (ZUI) has been replaced by “Activity Manager”.
3) Plasma Netbook which is the KDE workspace for netbooks has received under-the-hood enhancements which obviously are not visible to the end user.
Acer Aspire One runs Slackware flawlessly
Here is a great news for all the Slackware fans. the new Slackware 13.0 runs without a hitch on the Acer Aspire one A110/A150.
Battery life has improved a lot. some have been able to get nearly 2.5 hours out of that tiny 3-cell battery of the Aspire One A110 and A150.
