Netbooks to get Dolby Surround Sound support

Dolby is interested in working with the netbook manufacturers to offer Dolby sound support in the tiny machines. First netbooks to use this technology are the two netbooks from Lenovo: S12 and S10-2. According to Dolby, it improves listening comfort and prevents the fatigue caused by prolonged headphone use.

Although I use my headphone on my netbook (without Dolby support) for fairly long times, I am get to get the ‘listener’s fatigue’ as said by Dolby. I am, in fact, pretty happy with the multimedia capabilities of my netbook

Lenovo BIOS update v90 for S9 and S10 – Caution: Do NOT perform any update

Lenovo has recently released a BIOS update for IdeaPad S9 and S10 netbook. Unfortunately, instead of improving things, a lot of these netbooks have been rendered useless because of this new BIOS update. If you have not yet updated the BIOS, simply just do not update it if you are not facing any problem with the current BIOS.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 having problems with the Fan?

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is high on popularity list, but unfortunately not for the good things. The major complaint that we have come accross is that the fan in the unit constantly spins up and down. Now, you may wonder that this is a common phenomenon in notebooks and netbooks that the fan spins according to the processor utilization. But, in the Lenovo S10, the fan goes on full blast even if it is very cold and nothing is being done.

I’ve been using the Lenovo S10 from the past couple of days and I am very impressed with the unit. Not only I’m impressed with the superb built quality, but also the software part for which I will write about in a day or two.

In this article, I will show you how easy it is to upgrade the HDD and RAM of the Lenovo S10. Unlike some Netbooks in the market (say, Acer Aspire One), you will not have to open the whole unit just to upgrade basic hardware like RAM or HDD. Folks at Lenovo has made it simple for the end user to easily upgrade the HDD or RAM, if he wishes to.
