Acer Aspire 1810T/1410 User REVIEW – Plus and Minus points about this powerful netbook/mini-Laptop
Acer Aspire 1810T (Aspire 1410 in US) is a Acer Aspire 751H netbook on steroids. It has a more powerful CULV processor and GPU packed into small, lightweight package.
Cusem at aspironeforum bought himself an Acer Aspire 1810T and he seems to be pretty impressed with it. According to his review, here is what is cool about it:
(+) Powerful than the Intel Atom processor equipped netbooks
(+) The 6-cell battery does not protrude out the way it does in Acer Aspire D250/D150/A150 models. It sits completely flushed with the casing.
(+) Some key flex when using the keyboard
(+) Feels more like a notebook due to its high resolution rather than a netbook bearing low-resolution screen
(+) 1366×768 pixel resolution
(+) Even after upgrading it to 2GB, it felt slow with the Vista. Install Windows 7 instead
(+) Phenomenal battery life (7-8h+)
What is not cool about the Acer Aspire 1810T notebook/netbook:
(-) Slightly loose power button
(-) Grainy touchpad
(-) Less vivid colors on the display
(-) No sleeve/pouch/case included

Dell Inspiron 11z CULV netbook gets official – Feature packed netbook!
Dell has finally unveiled its much-awaited 11-inch netbook/mini- laptop, the Inspiron 11z. Unlike most of the netbooks that come with Intel Atom processors, this new netbook from Dell uses an Intel Celeron processor that runs at 1.2GHz clock speed which is noticeably faster than any Intel Atom processor released till date. That is the reason why Dell is selling them with Windows Vista Home Premium instead of good ‘ol Windows XP which almost all the current netbooks carry.
Another interesting thing to note is the fact that there are no physical left and right click buttons. How difficult or easy it makes the usage cannot be commented upon right now, but we guess that Dell must have made some enhancements to the touchpad to make it usable for the normal consumer.
It even packs in an HDMI port, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard disk, all of which are not common on netbooks due to the restrictions by Microsoft according to which a manufacture cannot use Windows XP on a netbook that has more than 160GB HDD or/and 1GB RAM.
Specifications:-
- CPU: 1.2GHz Intel Celeron 723 CULV processor
- Video: Intel GS45 integrated graphics
- Display: 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixels
- OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
- RAM: 2GB
- Storage: 250GB, 5400rpm HDD

All this at an affordable price of $399. We say it is great deal for what you get: more horsepower and RAM along with hi-resolution screen and HDMI output, you cannot go wrong with this machine!
Gigabyte rolls out T1028x – better than Gigabyte T1028
If you have been searching touchscreen netbook that comes with an 10-inch screen and has ‘more than average‘ resolution, not 1024×600 but 1366 x 768, then the Gigabyte T1028M might be just for you. It is equipped with an 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU. The Gigabyte TouchNote T1028x will be the successor of old Gigabyte TouchNote T1028M. This machine has better screen (in terms of resolution), bigger keyboard and faster processor. It also has 160GB HDD and an Express card slot and has a pretty affordable price tag of $698.
Comparison between Gigabyte T1028 and the newer Gigabyte T1028x:
- T1028x has faster processor (N280 versus N270)
- More spacious hard disk (160GB versus 80GB)
- Better screen: T1028 has 1024×600 pixel resolution screen whereas the T1028x has 1366×768 pixel resolution screen.
CTD DragonFly MID – Two folding LCDs!
CTD DragonFly MID is one of most interesting devices I’ve ever come accross till now. It comes with two LED-backlit foldable LEDs! CTD claims that it will have an all-day battery life and will run Windows XP as its primary OS although they plan to dual boot it with Moblin linux
Personally, I do not see the point of carrying a device with two LCDs built-in. I would rather have a single higher resolution screen to gain extra real estate for my work.
