Engineering samples of Cedarview-D Atom to be available by late 2010

If everything goes on the track, we would get to see engineering sample of Cedarview-D phase one in Q4 2010.

In late Q1 2011, second engineering sample should be ready, whereas the qualification samples are expected to be ready by Q2 2011. In early Q3 2011, the production would start that will be followed by its launch.

ATI Redwood and Cedar to be in market in Q1

ATI to unveil two new chips and three new cards by Q1 2010. The Redwood XT which is a 40nm DX11 chip for mainstream market which is expected to rule over 4770 and 4670, while second one will rule over 4650 in the mainstream market called as Redwood or PRO.

The 4550, 4350 as well as 3450 cards will be seen in the Q1 2010, and will be recognized as sub-Cedar part of the value market. There are chances that Cedar might be branded as Radeon HD 55×0 / 53×0, which totally depends upon performance and nonetheless it is ATI’s marketing decision.

AMD official- Yes there’s scarcity of HD 5000 series

Fudzilla interviewed AMD Product Manager Dave Baumann, in which he confessed that the outfit was facing serious shortages of all HD 5000 series product. He also added that there were certain problems in production with TSMC and was not in control by AMD. The production will surely take new turn in next few weeks. He also committed to increase its delivery to the fullest. The manager further said that, company is still on track to introduce Redwood and Cedar products in Q1 2010.

AMD 25W Dual-Core processors – Athlon II X2 520u and Athlon II X2 620u

AMD is ready to roll out two Regor-based 45nm dual core 25W CPUs. These two CPUs run at 1.8GHz and 1.6GHz clock speeds. 1.8GHz one is branded as Athlon II X2 620u and will be launched later in Q1 2010.

The Athlon II X2 520u runs at 1.6GHz clocked speed and packs 2MB cache will be launched in Q4 2009, but we do not see any signs of its availability yet.

Clearly, those TDPs are perfect for the folks who want more power from their netbooks. Without any doubt, it will leave Atom processors in the dust in terms of speed and raw computation. That said, until we get our hands on it, nothing much can be said

MSI working on a Nvidia-Tegra based e-book reader

MSI has confirmed that they are currenttly developing an Nvidia Tegra e-book reader. MSI could have unveiled some more details, but due to some problems with the reader, one will have to wait until Q1 2010 to catch a glimpse of it.

In case you have forgotten, ASUS is also planning to unveil an ebook reader with 9-inch display very soon.

Title surely sounds like “Superman saved the world!”, but that is how the report of Gartner sounds. In the Q1 2009, the PC market showed an increase of just 0.7 percent. Gartner says that if the netbooks were not there, PC market would have depicted negative growth figures. Due to the economic downturn, most of the corporates simply did not want to purchase anything as a result of which the corporate PC market declined by mind-boggling 20 percent! (compared to Q1 2008)

Among the netbooks, Acer is still the undisputed king in Europe. Infact, its sales increased by 32 percent compared to Q1 2008
