Acer Aspire 532H netbook details uncovered
update: read
Acer 532h review
Some juicy details about the Acer Aspire One 532h Pinetrail based netbook. It is a netbook with 10-inch display with a marvelous 1280×720 resolution. It runs the Intel’s new Pineview N450 processor that runs at 1.66GHz clock speed. Another great news for the GMA 500 haters, it packs GMA 3150 graphic chipset which will replace both GMA 500 and GMA 945 that was prevalent in the N270/N280 basd netbooks.
It will ship with Windows 7 Starter operating system.
The Aspire One is currently listed at Lithuanian reseller site with a price tag of £297/$483/€328 but we suspect that the price might even be lower once this one is released and shows up at e-tail.
The Intel’s Pineview N450 CPU has integrated DDR2 memory controller and graphics core built into the CPU itself, rather than the chipset.
Onkyo BX 407A4 – Another re-branded Umid
Onkyo has announced BX 407A4 which is basically a re-branded Umid M2. In this cute device, you get an Intel Atom 1.2GHz processor. It comes with 512MB of RAM and a 32GB SSD for storage. It has good battery life of 7-hours.
Although equipped with a tiny 5-inch screen, it sports a mighty 1024×600 resolution which means the text should be really sharp on that little display. It will carry a price tag of $729.
Commentary: So after releasing one re-branded product yesterday, the Onkyo DX, which is actually a Kohjinsha DZ, here we have another re-branded product, the BX 407A4. Excuse my bluntness, but it is high time to churn out something original, not something with re-branded tag slapped upon
DosPara Prime Note Cartina HS Netbook now on sale in Japan
The Prime Note Cartina Netbook, which is basically an Averatec Netbook will start shipping in Japan soon. It is equipped with an Intel Atom N270 processor and the monotonous 10.1-inch screen, 1024×600 resolution, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM and WiFi (b/g/n)
Surprisingly, it will be shipped with Windows XP Home OS even though Windows 7′s release is just around the corner. It will carry a price tag of $330 (29,800 Yen)
Sharp RD-PM1 MID – nothing great about this MID
Sharp has rolled out another great looking MID: RD-PM1. This design employs use of slider mechanism.
It comes with a 4.3-inch touch-screen and a rather shabby resolution of 480×272. It has a sliding keyboard which it cleverly hides itself beneath its screen when not in use. It is powered by Windows CE 5.0 operating system. It has 8GB flash-storage, micro-SD slot (upto 16GB supported), built-in Bluetooth and WiFi. It is set to carry a price-tag of $290.
To be honest, we were more impressed by the two other MIDs that the Sharp rolled out (Sharp PM-MID and Sharp PC-Z1). At least, they sported better resolution. Whats up with the pathetic resolution in RD-PM1? Heck, even iPhone has better resolution than that!

Sony Vaio TT lookalike – VAIC TT – Real Cheap!
Sony Vaio TT has been one of the most expensive and well-designed ultraportables so far. Although, Sony stopped selling it in the US few months back, you can get one from China real cheap. Well, not exactly the real one, but quite close. Meet VAIC TT. (note: it is VAIC, not VAIO). Slapped with a price tag of $294, its manufacture has really worked hard to make it look as much like the original VAIO TT. In fact, its style is so magnificent and clean that anybody can be easily fooled.
Some words about its specs:It has an 12.1-inch display with 1366 x 768 resolution. Unlike VAIO TT, it does not have a ULV processor. Instead, it has typical netbook-ish innards: Intel Atom N270, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM and so on. Interestingly, it has built-in 3G module and a 6-cell 4400mAh battery. It weighs a modest 1.6 kg.
Dell Mini 10v now being offered with Moblin Linux OS – World’s First Moblin Netbook
At IDF 2009, Dell announced to offer the Dell Mini 10v with Moblin Linux OS (they are instead using the name “Ubuntu Moblin Remix Developer Edition”). This makes it the first Moblin netbook and will start selling it on 24 September 2009 at the price tag of $299.
As its name suggests, the Dell Mini 10v is targeted towards the developers and not for the average consumer, which is weird as Moblin OS is one fo the most polished Linux OS ever made for netbooks. On a weird note, the bluetooth does not work on the Dell Mini 10V even though it has BT onboard.
For those who do not know about Moblin, it is a project by Intel to bring optimized Linux OS to the mobile devices.
Prices of Intel Atom D510 and Atom D410 Nettop Processors declared – NetTops to get expensive
Prices of PineTrail nettop processors, the D510 and D410, have been declared. Atom 330′s successor, D510 is for sale for a price tag of $63 making it $20 costlier than the former. The single-core Atom 230 will be replaced by single-core Atom D41,which will sell for $43 ($14 more than the current Atom 230). Both of the new processors run at 1.66GHz clock speed. The only difference lies in their cache: 1MB on D510 and 512kb on D410.
This means that the future nettops, although will be beefier in terms of specs, but will also make you shell out more money.
Packard-Bell dot m/u is NOT a Netbook – 500GB hard disk, 4GB RAM = Wow!
Packard bell unveiled two netbooks, Dot M and Dot S few months ago. Now, they have launched a new netbook, Dot m/u. It has amazing specs for a compact netbook-size device! Take a look:
Specifications:-
- 11.6-inch screen
- ULV processor
- 500GB HDD
- 4GB RAM
- 8-hour battery
- Wi-Fi
- 3G Modem
- 5-in-1 card reader
It is set to carry a price tag of £399 and comes with Windows 7 Home Premium. It will be available in two colors: “NightSky Black” and “Cherry Red”
Commentary: 500GB hard disk and 4GB RAM in a netbook-size shell and that too with a more powerful ULV processor, we are totally sold over this device!
Hua Yi 12-inch Netbook – Yet another Macbook Air clone
Hua Yi, a 12-inch netbook is a Macbook Air look-alike that is cloned in China. Unfortunately, it has netbook-ish specifications: An Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of Ram, 160GB HDD. and so on. It is set to carry a price tag of $249.
Cloned netbooks, we despair. Also, we are starting to loose count of these Macbook Air clones. We mentioned them here, here and here
Archos 10s To come in October – To carry a price tag of $399
Archos’ 10.2” Archos 10s netbook is soon going to hit the market in in mid-October and will be priced for $399. This model was made public back in June this year. Oddly, even though October is the month when the Windows 7 will be made official, they are still launching it with Windows XP.
The Archos 10s, although being seen as successor to Archos 10, it does not bring anything spectacular over the latter other than being slimmer and lighter. The specs have widely remained unchanged.
- Intel Atom N270 processor (1.6GHz)
- 10.2-inch display
- 1024×600 resolution
- 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD
- 1.3MP Webcam
- Windows XP
- 0.86-inch thick
- Weight: 1.06 kg
Archos is going to ship it with either a 3-cell (2.5 hours) or 6-cell battery (>5 hours). One thing I am not able to make out is the fact that some of the manufactures are still shipping devices with the old Intel Atom processor (N270). Call this their stubbornness or their (own) way to clear their old stock inventory, we cannot make out which one is correct.
