ASUS EEE 1005PE is the first netbook by ASUS to feature the latest Pinetrail processor. Infact, it is one of the first netbook out there to feature such a powerful processor. The 45-nanometer processor – Atom N450 combines both GMA 3150 graphic chipset and memory controller in a a single CPU die. So, does this new EEE PC really has something new to offer or is it just another EEE PC on the block.The ASUS EEE 1005PE runs Windows 7 starter which has already been a huge hit among the netbooks and notebooks. It comes equipped with 1GB or 2GB of RAM. Also comes with it is the spacious 250GB hard disk @ 5400 rpm which is plenty fast for any task you throw to it. Just do not try running Halo or Crysis on it. Run that on your gaming rig.

Intel Pinetrail finally announced

Intel has finally announced the successor of Atom processors. The new pinetrail processor come with integrated graphics. Of course, almost all the current netbook manufactures and OEMs have committed themselves to the PineTrail CPUs.

The newest PineTrail processor, N450 comes with the new NM10 Express chipset. The N450 is a single core Atom processor that comes with 512k of L2 cache. Sporting TDP of just 7 watts including chipset, this is one of the most power-frugal chips out there. D410, meant for the nettops, consumes a still respectable 12 watts. D510, being core, consumes a bit more – 15 watt

Pricing information is still not known.

Some juicy details about the Acer Aspire One 532h Pinetrail based netbook. It is a netbook with 10-inch display with a marvelous 1280x720 resolution. It runs the Intel's new Pineview N450 processor that runs at 1.66GHz clock speed. Another great news for the GMA 500 haters, it packs GMA 3150 graphic chipset which will replace both GMA 500 and GMA 945 that was prevalent in the N270/N280 basd netbooks.It will ship with Windows 7 Starter operating system.The Aspire One is currently listed at Lithuanian reseller site with a price tag of £297/$483/€328 but we suspect that the price might even be lower once this one is released and shows up at e-tail.The Intel's Pineview N450 CPU has integrated DDR2 memory controller and graphics core built into the CPU itself, rather than the chipset.

Pine Trail-M Atom 2010 is smaller than current Atom processors

Intel has in mind to roll out Pine Trail-M mobile netbook platform in the Q1 2010. Good news is that the chip is going to be around 64% smaller than the current slew of Atom processors. Interestingly, it needs less power and its somewhat more cheaper to manufacture.It is commendable that Intel managed to bring down the package footprint by 64 percent. Reason behind this is the fact that it has switched over from three chips to (CPU, Northbridge and Southbridge) to just two chips (CPU and Southbridge) in the Pine View processors.When measured with Mobile Mark 05 office productivity Pine Trail-M platform will get you 20 percent lower power reduction, which in other words means even better battery life in Windows XP.

Commentary: Although the overall size will be smaller, but it is highly unlikely that manufactures are going to produce smaller netbooks. It is all about the market demand and most of the consumer want bigger displays and spacious keyboards.

Year and half long wait to see the 2011 Cedarview

Fudzilla source claims that Cedar Trail-D platform will be launched in either late Q3 2011 or early Q4 2011. So we still have to wait year and half long to see it. And in the meanwhile, the platform, bios and drivers, CPU and motherboard and all other collateral will be zeroed. When it launches, Cedarview-D will at least be 32nm processor; should offer higher clock speed in comparison to Pineview-D and ofcourse, current slew of Atom processors.

Atom N470-equipped Netbook can have 2GB RAM – Atom N450 left in dark

Finally, it will be possible to use more than 1GB memory in netbooks. Intel's upcoming Pine View processor, N470 is faster than the current Atom N280/N270 and runs at 1.83GHz clock speed. It is set to make its debut in March. Based on Pine Trail-M two chip platform has N470 CPU coupled with integrated graphics and NM10 southbridge that has the rest of the chipset.But this is not the case with N450, an Atom processor scheduled to be launched on January 3rd next year. It will come with Condor Peak Wlan and with 1 to 2GB of DDR2 memory.Intel suggests to use 20GB to 32GB SSD or 160GB hard disk. The choice of OS is Moblin Linux, but it is not mandatory to use it. The OEMs and manufactures are free to opt other operating systems.Interestingly, you have to use battery with 4-cells or less and allowed screen sizes are upto 10.2-inches.Commentary: This is not a good news for the netbook market. Here is few reasons:

4-cell battery: Currently, plethora of netbooks are using batteries with 6-cells or some even use 9-cells. Excellent battery life has been one of the core reasons netbooks are so popular. If Intel throws-in such a limit to the mix, it can be hazardous for the netbook market.
160GB HDD: It has been just few weeks that manufactures have started to churn-out netbooks that have 250GB or 320GB hard disks.
32GB SSD: Imagine the huge Windows 7 installation on that small SSD. Add in the space for pagefile and hibernation and you will be left even less space!
10.2-inch screen limit: Not allowing the netbook vendors to use the Atom N470 processor in netbooks using more than 10.2-inch display will hurt Intel only as it will allow the vendors and manufactures to instead use the AMD Neo CPUs. Foolish move, Intel

Known as KND K1850 all-in-one desktop, the most significant feature about this nettop is that it runs Intel's new Pineview processor, the new Atom D1850 chip (1.66GHz). It features an 18.5 inch display and comes equipped with a 250GB hard drive, 2GB of DDR2, a DVD ROM, USB ports, LAN, Wi-Fi and a 3-in-1 card reader.It is just a matter of time when big guys like Acer and Asus will start releasing pine trail based nettops and netbooks.

Medion Pine Trail netbook in the tunnel – Akoya Mini E1217

Medion is one of the participants of the IFA 2009, where they have unveiled a slew of netbooks including Akoya Mini E1315 which a netbook with touchscreen display. There is another netbook that Medion launched, Akoya Mini E1217. The E1217 is a ultra-slim netbook which features an 10-inch display. The company promises to deliver the same model with 11.6-inch display. It will be based on the Intel Pine Trail (PineView) platform, which is the successor of the Intel Atom platform.Like the majority of the modern netbooks, this one does NOT have a built-in 3G module. However, Medion (again) promises to launch one with built-in 3G modem.It will be available in black and white colors. The Mini E1217 is scheduled to be released in January, 2010. Intel Pine Trail launch delayed

Remember the Pine Trail processor that we mentioned last month? Well, the Pine Trail processor line was supposed to be launched at the later part of this year (October), but according to Digitimes, Intel has deliberately delayed the launch of Pine Trail processors to the early next year, which means that you won’t see netbooks using the pine view processors until the second quarter of 2010.

The main advantage that the Intel Pineview processor brings over the Intel Atom CPU is the possibility to use higher clock frequencies.Other advancements include:

Intel: Goodbye Atom N270, Hello Atom N450!

Intel has taken the decision to stop selling Atom N270 in Q2 2010 as it will be launching its successor, the Atom N450 which will replace the aging N270.It does not mean that you won't be able to purchase a machine with N270 processor after Q2 2010 as some manufactures can stock these chips and later use them in their netbooks. Intel is all set to introduce the successor of the very popular N270, the N450. The Intel's 45nm Atom N450 is codenamed as PineTrail (pineview) and it comes with built-in Northbridge functions. It will also comes with (new) NM10 chipset. Intel will fully phase out the N270 in the Q1 2010.Although the Intel did release N280 after N270, but it was never meant to be a true successor of N270. The N270 was infact the first CPU that made the netbooks adequately powerful for everyday use.Here are some features of PineView:
