CTL 2Go E10IS now with Pine Trail guts

CTL has updated its 2Go netbook with the Pine Trail Atom N450 processor (1.66GHz). It has a spill-resistant keyboard and semi-rugged design which makes it perfect for the children as they are certainly not the experts in handling the netbooks.

Specs - 10.1-inch display, 1024x600 resoluton, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, memory card reader, VGA output, 3x USB2.0 ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LAN. CTL claims that you will get 4.5 hours of battery life from it. Choice of operating systems include Windows XP Home, XP Pro, 7 Starter or 7 Professional.

ASUS EEE 1005PE is the first netbook by ASUS to feature the latest Pinetrail processor. Infact, it is one of the first netbook out there to feature such a powerful processor. The 45-nanometer processor – Atom N450 combines both GMA 3150 graphic chipset and memory controller in a a single CPU die. So, does this new EEE PC really has something new to offer or is it just another EEE PC on the block.The ASUS EEE 1005PE runs Windows 7 starter which has already been a huge hit among the netbooks and notebooks. It comes equipped with 1GB or 2GB of RAM. Also comes with it is the spacious 250GB hard disk @ 5400 rpm which is plenty fast for any task you throw to it. Just do not try running Halo or Crysis on it. Run that on your gaming rig.

HP Mini 210 has Pine Trail!

The Pinetrail equipped HP Mini 210 netbook has been spotted online on an e-tailer ECost website. The website has put up pricing and specifications of the HP Mini 210. The price ranges from $322 - $399. It has an adorable design and features a matte display. Colors available are Matte Silver, Sonoma Red, Black, Pacific Blue and Matte Black with some beautiful pattern.

So, here is a run down of its specs:

160GB-320GB HDD

Nvidia ION 2 to be released after CES 2010 to the OEMs and Manufactures

We have posted plethora of times about the upcoming NVIDIA's ION 2 chipset. According to the latest news bits, the Nvidia has confirmed that ION 2 will NOT be launched during CES 2010 event that will be coming in the month of January.That said, it will showcased by many OEMs, but its official announcement will take place after CES. It will be launched in Q1 2010. So, what is the reason that Nvidia has pushed the announcement back? - OEMs such as ASUS, MSI, HP and Lenovo who are already pretty satisfied with the Pinetrail M and other pineview based CPUs.

Intel: Goodbye Atom N270, Hello Atom N450!

Intel has taken the decision to stop selling Atom N270 in Q2 2010 as it will be launching its successor, the Atom N450 which will replace the aging N270.It does not mean that you won't be able to purchase a machine with N270 processor after Q2 2010 as some manufactures can stock these chips and later use them in their netbooks. Microsoft being partial to netbooks, yet again – only Windows 7 starter edition and Home Basic for netbooks

Intel is sure enough that the upcoming pine trail platform will support at least two versions of Windows 7: Windows 7 Starter and Home basic. This includes the soon-to-be-launched N450 CPU and NM 10. Another interesting point to note is that Microsoft wants to reserve the 'Starter Edition' solely for the netbooks.Another bizarre thing is that Microsoft is not going to allow netbook manufactures to offer the 'premium' versions to the end-users. Offering just Plain Jane versions of Windows 7 (Starter and Basic) will surely turn off a lot of users. Why not just provide the 'home premium' and 'business versions' as an option?
