Firefox updated for Maemo

I just received an update on my Nokia N900 regarding the new Firefox v1.1. This v1.1 brings numerous improvements over the previous version, which include:

• portrait browsing – webpages auto-fit to the width
• start page with quick actions
• Context menus
• Zoom buttons
• Auto-complete
• Save as PDF

If you have not seen a notification on your Maemo device yet, just point the built-in browser to firefox.com/m and download it. Believe me, it is worth it!

Nokia N900 is the best Phone MID!

Nokia N900 is a great phone for some, but for us, it has to be awarded the title of best MID ever made. Here is a video where Nokia N900 is shown running 12 apps opened at the same time. Music is playing in the background; PDF files are opened; game that was being played is paused; photo viewer displaying a hi-res picture and everything on this MID is opened.

Guess what, it handled them all with panache and not even a single slowdown was noticed anywhere. Take about some effective and efficient memory management!

Nokia: Maemo OS for MIDs, Symbian still the main priority

Nokia N900 is a great device and we love it! Nokia has said that they are going to reserve the excellent Maemo OS for their (upcoming) MID-based phones. That said, Symbian is still going to be main platform.

Next year, Nokia has promised us that they will launch even more Maemo based devices. We have already been very impressed with the Maemo 5 OS that the Nokia N900 MID runs. We believe that the Maemo 6 OS will bring even more capabilities including support for capacitive screens and multi-touch
