Nokia N900 MID-phone supports Firefox 1.1

There are many who do not know that the amazing Maemo that runs on the Nokia N900 MID is based on Linux OS, which is why many people call it a ‘true pocket computer’. According to an article, Nokia N900 will support the Firefox 1.1 that is supposed to be brimming with heap of advancements and new features, including support for volume rocker for zooming in and out of a webpage. Another new feature to look out for is portrait mode.

Nokia N900 is the best Phone MID!

Nokia N900 is a great phone for some, but for us, it has to be awarded the title of best MID ever made. Here is a video where Nokia N900 is shown running 12 apps opened at the same time. Music is playing in the background; PDF files are opened; game that was being played is paused; photo viewer displaying a hi-res picture and everything on this MID is opened.

Guess what, it handled them all with panache and not even a single slowdown was noticed anywhere. Take about some effective and efficient memory management!

Nokia N900 MID officially delayed until November

Nokia N900, touted as the ultimate MID-phone combo has been officially delayed until the month of November.

According to the reports, Nokia wants to ‘gather’ some feedback from the Maemo developers to make sure that everything is functioning the way Nokia wants it to. Nokia has confirmed that although the hardware of the device has been finalized, some more tuning needs to be done on the software-end.

Nokia has loaned 300 pre-production units to get feedback from the developer community. Nokia wants to make sure that N900 users get the best experience from the uber MID phone.

Nokia N900 MID available for preorder for $565

Nokia N900 MID is soon going to hit the market at a price of $650. Buy.com, on the other hand, is offering a pretty slick deal, retailing N900 for $565 ($569+$5 shipping cost).

This MID phone is unlocked and can be used with any GSM carrier in the world.

In UK, you can now pre-order Nokia N900 MID at Nokia Online UK. Nokia is offering it for just £499 (inc. VAT) with free Sim card, which I think is a pretty decent deal for a MID+phone combo.

Nokia N900 being tested in Helsinki

According to thenokiablog.com, the recently unveiled Nokia’s Internet tablet, the N900 is being tested in Helsinki. Nokia’s services sales manager, Chanse Arrington, is testing N900′s apps (like Bounce, Twitter apps etc) before it is officially launched. Oddly, Nokia still believes that there flagship device is still Nokia N97, which they think is “more mass consumer friendly” than the Nokia N900.

“It’s not a hard concept. It won’t be positioned as a phone, but will be positioned as able to make phone calls,” he said

Commentary: This is weird. We fully agree with the fact that Nokia N97 is more consumer friendly, but that does not makes it the flagship device. The Nokia N900 runs better, more sophisticated OS whereas the Nokia N97 runs old Symbian OS for which I should rather not go into details. The Nokia N900 has bigger and better screen and is powerful enough for being a MID (Mobile Internet Device). Can you think of N97 as a MID? NO

Nokia N900 unboxed! – best looking MID

Nokia N900 is the Nokia’s latest offering for the MID-lovers. The Nokia N900 runs Maemo OS and comes with a 5MP camera. Orzlive.com was able to get hold of N900 and they have posted few unboxing pictures of this beauty.

If the Nokia N900 had the capability to run Windows XP OS or even Ubuntu, I would have already bought it. Also, another big ‘minus’ in N900 is the fact that there is still no bump in resolution. It still runs at WVGA resolution, which is no more considered as ‘de-facto’. We thought that 2 years were enough for Nokia to realize that people want to see more at a time, but we were wrong!
