Apple iSlate to ship with iWorks supporting multi-touch
iWorks, that is bundled with every Apple computer does not recognize multi-touch gestures. But, it is being claimed by AppleInsider that Apple will upgrading the iWorks to support multi-touch in iSlate, Apple’s upcoming tablet.
“The tablet should offer any number of unique multitouch experiences — for example, three fingers down and rotate could mean ‘open an application,’ ” one former Apple engineer reportedly told the paper. A second added that the Cupertino-based company has “spent the past couple of years working on a multitouch version of iWork."
Fujitsu rolls out New Muti-Touch PCs – F Series, MT Series and NF/ER series
Fujitsu has unveiled new desktops sporting Multi-Touch: F Series, MT and NF/ER. They are offering 3 variations in F series:
- 23” 1920×1080 multi-touch version
- 20” 1600×900 multi-touch version
- One with Blu-Ray burner and 1TB of HDD with Digital and Analog TV tuner
All of the variations use Core 2 DUO P8700 that run at 2.53GHz with 4GB RAM. Fujitsu also took wraps off its two new Multi-Touch PCs: Biblo NF/ER and Deskpower F/ER, which caters to the older people. Fujitsu will offer a special hotline to the owners of the Desktop PCs where the specially trained staff will guide the people in case they face in problem or difficulty in using it.
Companies preparing to introduce Multi-Touch technology in netbooks and UMPCs
Plethora of Taiwanese LCD manufactures are readying themselves for the Windows 7′s multi-touch feature. Young Fast Optoelectronics, a Taiwanese company has already started manufacturing capacitive screens for the notebooks and will soon start manufacturing for the netbooks. Resistive touch screen makers like Mildex Optical will also start production to give some competition to the capacitive screen manufactures.
Windows 7 will probably be launched later this year (or early next year) and most of the netbook manufactures will FINALLY make switch from Windows XP to Windows 7. The reason is simple: Windows 7 offers some great multi-touch features which can change the way we use our devices and it will result in bump in demand of touch panels in netbooks/UMPCs.
