New Atom N450 to be released in January 2010 – $20 more than Atom N270

Graphics and chipset all in a tiny chip! This is what Atom N450 is all about which will hit the market on January 3rd 2010. Being priced at $64 at its launch, it will cost $20 more than the now aging Atom N270, but the money is worth it. Why? Because it includes a GPU too!

Netbook manufacturers are very much excited because it contains two chips in one design and is about the same size as N270 processor. Although there won’t be much improvement in battery life.

Intel also has plans to launch many new products along with launching the Atom N450 officially.

Oracle’s CEO hates the word “cloud computing”

Oracle’s CEO hates the word “cloud computing”

Larry Ellion, CEO of Oracle Corporation is extremely allergic to the word “Cloud Computing”. However, unlike techcrunchit, we do not think he is hates “cloud computing”, but he hates the way that word is being used. He is NOT against cloud computing. According to him, we have been using cloud computing’s apps in the past too, but the difference was that those apps did not carry the tag “cloud apps” with them.

I feel that cloud computing is great until the network goes down. Reason behind it is that sync does not work when the network goes down. Also, cloud computing can never work for mission critical apps or apps that require 100% uptime or access to your data.

That said, lets face it: Oracle serves the back-end of the cloud computing for many websites. So, Oracle makes money out of it even though Larry openly admits that he hates cloud computing.

Prices of Intel Atom D510 and Atom D410 Nettop Processors declared – NetTops to get expensive

Prices of PineTrail nettop processors, the D510 and D410, have been declared. Atom 330′s successor, D510 is for sale for a price tag of $63 making it $20 costlier than the former. The single-core Atom 230 will be replaced by single-core Atom D41,which will sell for $43 ($14 more than the current Atom 230). Both of the new processors run at 1.66GHz clock speed. The only difference lies in their cache: 1MB on D510 and 512kb on D410.

This means that the future nettops, although will be beefier in terms of specs, but will also make you shell out more money.

Sony now offering Z530 proccessor for VAIO P

Sony now offering Z530 proccessor for VAIO P

Sony is now (finally) offering the ‘faster’ Atom Z530 processor to the US consumers. The Z530 runs at 1.6GHz as compared to 1.3GHz Z520 processor. The ‘new’ Atom will be offered in the new P698E model, in which Sony has also bundled the 128GB SSD. Keep in mind that Z530 is still slower than N270/N280 processor, but offers better battery life.

I don’t think that it would be appealing enough for the consumers to shell out so much. Anyway, if you have $1500 lying around, then you should give this little thing a shot!
