Acer NAV50 and NAV60 netbooks spotted at FCC
Acer’s yet to come netbook was seen at FCC. NAV50 and NAV60 are the two models which were noticed. The only things which can be made out about this netbook from the available diagram is the size of the notebook (netbook), a 3-cell battery with 2200mAh capacity and a Windows XP sticker. It will have WiFi b/g and also a 3G module.
It has been quite a while since Acer released a new netbook. Acer Aspire One 751H, that we reviewed in June was disappointing in terms of performance, thanks to the awesome (note: sarcasm) Atom Z520 processor, which is ironically is slower than its predecessors (N280 and N270). This makes the Aspire D250 Acer’s flagship netbook.

Broadcom single-chip WiFi/Bluetooth combo approved by netbook makers
Broadcom’s new all-in-one chip, which features both WiFi and Bluetooth radio on a single chip has been selected by the various netbook/notebook vendors. This includes the big guys like Acer, ASUS and Lenovo.
This chip will help the manufactures and vendors to lower the cost of their netbooks as-well-as notebooks as they won’t have to buy separate chips and will help them to conserve space on the already cramped logicboards.
Broadcom’s triple combo which includes three radio, WiFi, Bluetooth and FM has been selected by HTC, Acer, Qisda and Foxconn to lower the price of their upcoming models.

Toshiba releases 3 new MIDs – Toshiba K01, Toshiba K02 and Toshiba L1 – Run Windows Mobile
Toshiba is showing off 3 new MIDs: K01, K02 and L1. All of them sport touch screens. First MID, the K01, comes with an 4.1-inch slider touch screen and has thickness of mere 0.6 inches. Second MID, the K02 has an 3.5-inch screen having 800×400 (WVGA) resolution. It is equipped with a 10-key keyboard.
Third one, the L1 has a bigger screen than aforementioned 2 models. It has a massive 7-inch screen. These MIDs will be released by end of the year 2010 and will run on Windows Mobile 6.5.
Commentary: It is interesting to see manufactures still churning out MIDs based on Windows Mobile platform. This means that there is still a good market for the Windows Mobile MIDs since it also has its own advantages over the webOS, iPhone or Android OS., apart from the bucketfull of disadvantages when compared to other mobile operating systems.
