find a modem that comes in the shape of PCI Express Mini card

swap the wifi card with 3G card

if you need wifi, you will need to buy yourself a USB wifi dongle.

However, keep in mind that it requires opening your HP Mini 1000 and it is not for the average dude.This is a great news for the HP Mini 1000 owners as it Mini 1000 comes with only 2 USB ports. Most of the netbooks in the current market come with 3 USB ports and Mini 1000 falls short by 1 USB port. The mod does gives you an 'extra' USB port, but voids your warranty too.
