HP Mini-Laptops updated
HP has announced two new members to the Mini 210 family and a new, updated version of the Mini 110 netbook. One of the two members of HP Mini 210 series is the pink model that we spotted a couple of weeks back and second one is a while Mini which HP is calling as “White Crystal”. Both of these will retail at $354.
The updated Mini 110 does away with the protruding battery and now features a flushed battery. Other specs include Atom N450 processor, 1GB RAM, 250GB hard disk and Windows 7 Starter operating system. The new HP Mini 110 will cost you around $279. Both will be released in the mid of June (2010)
Most reasonable Netbooks from China with Windows XP
Now and then, we keep hearing about the cheap Chinese netbooks that cost around USD 130-150. However, most of them, if not all have compromising specs. Most of those netbooks have small screens and are not x86-based which means that you cannot run Windows XP. They generally come with ARM processors that mostly run Android or Windows CE as OS. Well, here we have two netbooks that come with Windows XP pre-installed and have typical 10.1-inch screen size. Surprisingly, they costs $20-30 more than non-x86 netbooks.
AOJIE is the brand name and their netbook, the X100V is based on VIA C7-M processor that runs @ 1.6GHz and comes with VIA Chrome9 HC3 graphic chipset, being available for just USD 146. Its second version, the X100A has Intel Atom N270 chip that runs @ 1.6GHz and comes with Intel IGP graphic chipset. It is priced for USD 160. Certainly, this is a much better deal as Atom 270 is much more powerful and at the same time, more efficient than the former.
The devices are targeted at the large (and very price sensitive) student segment, and the company reports that it is currently working with education organizations to bundle free education software with the products.

Acer Aspire 1810T/1410 User REVIEW – Plus and Minus points about this powerful netbook/mini-Laptop
Acer Aspire 1810T (Aspire 1410 in US) is a Acer Aspire 751H netbook on steroids. It has a more powerful CULV processor and GPU packed into small, lightweight package.
Cusem at aspironeforum bought himself an Acer Aspire 1810T and he seems to be pretty impressed with it. According to his review, here is what is cool about it:
(+) Powerful than the Intel Atom processor equipped netbooks
(+) The 6-cell battery does not protrude out the way it does in Acer Aspire D250/D150/A150 models. It sits completely flushed with the casing.
(+) Some key flex when using the keyboard
(+) Feels more like a notebook due to its high resolution rather than a netbook bearing low-resolution screen
(+) 1366×768 pixel resolution
(+) Even after upgrading it to 2GB, it felt slow with the Vista. Install Windows 7 instead
(+) Phenomenal battery life (7-8h+)
What is not cool about the Acer Aspire 1810T notebook/netbook:
(-) Slightly loose power button
(-) Grainy touchpad
(-) Less vivid colors on the display
(-) No sleeve/pouch/case included
Dell Inspiron 11z CULV netbook gets official – Feature packed netbook!
Dell has finally unveiled its much-awaited 11-inch netbook/mini- laptop, the Inspiron 11z. Unlike most of the netbooks that come with Intel Atom processors, this new netbook from Dell uses an Intel Celeron processor that runs at 1.2GHz clock speed which is noticeably faster than any Intel Atom processor released till date. That is the reason why Dell is selling them with Windows Vista Home Premium instead of good ‘ol Windows XP which almost all the current netbooks carry.
Another interesting thing to note is the fact that there are no physical left and right click buttons. How difficult or easy it makes the usage cannot be commented upon right now, but we guess that Dell must have made some enhancements to the touchpad to make it usable for the normal consumer.
It even packs in an HDMI port, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard disk, all of which are not common on netbooks due to the restrictions by Microsoft according to which a manufacture cannot use Windows XP on a netbook that has more than 160GB HDD or/and 1GB RAM.
Specifications:-
- CPU: 1.2GHz Intel Celeron 723 CULV processor
- Video: Intel GS45 integrated graphics
- Display: 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixels
- OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
- RAM: 2GB
- Storage: 250GB, 5400rpm HDD
- WiFi: Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g
- Webcam: 1.3MP
- Connectivity: Ethernet, 3 USB ports, 3-in-1 card reader, HDMI output
- Battery: 28WHr, 3 cell Li-Ion battery
- Dimensions: 11.5″ x 8.4″ x 0.9″
- Weight: 3 pounds
All this at an affordable price of $399. We say it is great deal for what you get: more horsepower and RAM along with hi-resolution screen and HDMI output, you cannot go wrong with this machine!
Sharp Mebius PC-Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70A has a display on its Trackpad!
The Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70A is a mini-laptop/netbook that comes with an 10-inch screen display resolution, 1024 x 600 display and 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, which is generally found in an average netbook. But, in this new Sharp netbook, you will find something extra-ordinary, not found in any netbooks: a 4-inch, 854 x 480 pixel touchscreen display instead of a trackpad.
It works like a standard touchpad and also as a secondary display. Price is not at all netbook-ish. This netbook will cost you over $1000!
Unfortunately, it has a tiny shift key on the right side of keyboard which might give you problem while typing. The PC-NJ70A also ships with Windows 7 Home Basic instead of Windows XP. So, even though you are spending $1000, you get a basic version! It does not make sense at all
Could this be the Dell’s 11-inch netbook?
We have already told you that Dell may be working on a netbook with an 11.6-inch display. At an event in Paris, Dell folks were holding two ‘small laptops’ which looked just a little bigger than the Dell Mini 10.
I hope Dell won’t use the under-powered Z520 processor in it, which runs at 1.3GHz clock speed.
