Conference in Dubai reveals Nvidia new tablet, might release in future

CEO and President of Nvidia, Jen-Hsun Huang visited American University in Dubai to deliver a speech. And in the conference, a pretty sleek and thin capacitive multi-touch tablet device was noticed, while he sat down to discuss about company’s plans, goals, achievements and products. And most thing to mention is, there was just a single button present on the entire device with red glow. That looks like a HUGE iPhone to us! We think that it is too big to be considered portable and it is hard to imagine its target market. After all, who would want to carry such a huge screen exposed like that!

HTC to enter netbook market

HTC has received pretty good recognition and is now considered one of the most reputed smartphone manufactures. Now, according to the latest news bits, there are chances that it might try it hands in the (over-saturated) netbook market.

According to HTC CEO Peter Chou, they are very much interested in this category and they are looking forward to enter the netbook market.

I am pretty sure that we will see something very unique and exiting, if, in case, HTC does enter the netbook market. We have seen some really great MID-like smartphones from them. To name a few, HTC TOUCH PRO 2 and the latest one featuring a capacitive display like iPhone, the HTC TOUCH HD 2

Note that HTC did enter the UMPC market and they were not able to sell a lot of these UMPCs. HTC’s UMPC known as the HTC Shift was a disaster; costing more than $1000; ran Vista on a 800MHz processor!

Forget ARM Cortex A8! Meet AMD Super Mobile CPU

Looks like XP is immortal! We thought that the XP would finally meet its fate on Oct 22. After netbooks, it is now turn for the phones to get equipped with XP.

Meet the phone powered by AMD Super Mobile CPU. It has GSM, GPRS, EDGE and 3G too. For storage, you can get upto 64GB of SSD storage which would certainly make the current iPhone 3GS owners a bit angry. You can get 1GB RAM (512MB version is available)

Compared to the fruit-phone, it has bigger display (4.8-inch) which means that it can easily be used as a MID. You get built-in WiFi and WiMax too. GPS is there too so that you don’t get lost.

Commentary: ARM Cortex, the CPU that is being used in iPhone and iPod Touch is, as its name implies, ARM based. Naturally, it is not x86 and thus cannot run Windows OS. However, AMD Super Mobile CPU is fully x86 compatible and runs Windows XP OS without a hitch!

Sharp RD-PM1 MID – nothing great about this MID

Sharp has rolled out another great looking MID: RD-PM1. This design employs use of slider mechanism.

It comes with a 4.3-inch touch-screen and a rather shabby resolution of 480×272. It has a sliding keyboard which it cleverly hides itself beneath its screen when not in use. It is powered by Windows CE 5.0 operating system. It has 8GB flash-storage, micro-SD slot (upto 16GB supported), built-in Bluetooth and WiFi. It is set to carry a price-tag of $290.

To be honest, we were more impressed by the two other MIDs that the Sharp rolled out (Sharp PM-MID and Sharp PC-Z1). At least, they sported better resolution. Whats up with the pathetic resolution in RD-PM1? Heck, even iPhone has better resolution than that!
