As published on More Computers, the upcoming 11.6 inch netbook by HP, the Mini 311c will have HD display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi (b/g), a 6 cell battery and NVIDIA ION LE graphics.
Its dimensions are 11.4″ x 8.03″ x 1.2″ and weighs 1.4kg (3.2 pounds). It is listed for £292.58 excluding VAT, which is about $480
With the Windows 7 release just around the corner. which has full support for DirectX 10, we expected more from HP, a netbook with Nvidia’s ION chipset and not some LE chipset. Also, whats up with the aged Atom N270 processor? We are certainly not amused

Acer serious about ultraportables – to offer many more models soon – Introduces Acer Aspire 1410
Acer has become pretty serious about ultraportables and is currently offering more models in more shapes and sizes than any other netbook/ultraportable vendor. Most of upcoming models are based on the ULV SU3500 or SU9400 processor. However, its new Aspire 1410 uses SU2300 dual core processor instead of SU3500.
Sadly, the SU2300 uses just 1MB of cache, which can slow the things down. UPDATE: The Acer 1410 comes with SU3500. A price of just €449 is marked for an Aspire 1410 that comes with an Intel SU2300 ULV processor, 2GB RAM and a 250GB hard drive. It even incorporates an HDMI port, an 11.6-inch 1366×768 screen and optional UMTS support.
We anticipate that the Aspire 1410 to start shipping in the month of September this year.
Sprint offering 99-cent netbook with mobile broadband
When the AT&T announced that they will be selling an Acer Aspire One netbook for just $80, we knew that Sprint is not going to sit idle. Sprint is now offering you a netbook for $0.99, which is basically a rebranded HP Mini 1000 netbook under the name of Compaq 1040DX. The only difference from the standard model is the use of EVDO module in the Sprint netbook.
There is catch though. You have enroll yourself under a TWO YEAR CONTRACT that will cost you $60 per month.
Albatron Netbook is super thin
The famous computer manufacture Albatron is now working on an Atom netbook. The netbook will come with a 10.2-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution. What makes this netbook different from most of the netbooks out there is that it is very slim.
About its battery life, it comes with a 6-cell 3600mAh battery and 80GB HDD. Why just 80GB? Well, the reason is that it is using 1.8-inch HDD whose maximum capacity so far is 80GB. There is no information available on its price.
OQO cancels all preorders for MODEL 2+
First we saw the disappearance of the OQO models from the expansys store and now we get the news that OQO has canceled all the preorders for the model 2+. This further makes us think one think: Is OQO on the brink of getting bankrupt?
Clearly, UMPCs are now dying due to their huge price tags and poor demand. Companies need to realize that in such tough times, it would hard for the consumer to shell out $1000+ on a UMPC. ASUS has pretty much understood this fact that they released their tablet/UMPC at a fair price tag of $549.
I am personally not at all surprised due to the fact they were NOT able to offer satisfactory service to the customers in US or anywhere around the world. See this POST for more information about the extremely poor OQO customer support.

We all love using our gadgets on the go. But, the my biggest concern when I’m on the go is how long battery of my device(s) will last. I carry a lot of gadgets on the go. ASUS P835 now official [Windows Mobile]
ASUS has unleashed its WVGA beauty, P835. Sporting a huge 3.5-inch WVGA (800 x 480), this new Windows Mobile device promises to give HTC some strong competition.
It looks like past mistakes have taught ASUS a bitter lesson. The previous flagship model, ASUS P565, which although had the zippy 800Mhz CPU lacked on the software front. It did not even include Opera Mobile. The built-in IE mobile does a sloppy job of rendering web pages. But, in the ASUS P835, the ASUS has included Opera Mobile which is absolutely great to use on the WVGA screen.
Here are its specifications:
- Windows Mobile 6.1
- Quad-Band GSM
- new and improved Glide user interface
- 528MHz Qualcomm 7201A processor
- 288MB RAM
- 256MB ROM
- 4GB internal storage
- USB 2.0 connectivity
- microSDHC card slot (yay!)
- Bluetooth 2.0
- aGPS
- 5 MP AutoFocus camera
Also, the ASUS has finally upgraded to the USB 2.0 standard. ALL the earlier models came with only USB 1.1 support, which made the transfer painfully slow. Another noticeable improvement is the inclusion of the 5MP camera, which makes it the first ASUS mobile phone to sport a 5MP camera and that too with autofocus capability.
