HP to use spill-proof keyboards in their laptops – not giving a damn to their Mini range

HP’s latest PCs will now include laptops which are impervious to water, hence no worries if any kind of liquid accidentally get spill over them. It will be used in their Probook b-series which has a channel beneath the keyboard which protects the laptop from getting damaged through liquids.

The new range will be released on October 22 and prices of B-series will start at $799. This is not the first time, such technology is being used. However, no manufacture has released netbooks that feature a spill-proof keyboard.

It is pity that HP does not uses or offers spill proof keyboard even in their premium netbooks like HP Mini 2140, which retails at a higher price than the standard HP mini 110

Verizon Wireless Netbook reviewed – HP Mini 1151NR

Verizon Wireless Netbook reviewed – HP Mini 1151NR

Folks at infosync have done a review of the recently released, HP Mini 1151NR. This is the same netbook, which was last week released by Verizon Wireless. The netbook has very impressive looks. Also, the since it has a pretty wide keyboard, it is a joy to type onto it. Verizon Wireless was also smart to add a Qualcomm Gobi chipset, which lets the netbook work on Verizon’s fast EV-DO Rev.

Skype performed without any problems and did not show any sluggishness in the tests. Well, there are not going to be many problems especially, if you are on a XP machine. Had they gone for Vista, I am sure we would have heard a lot of complains from the users about its ‘poor performance’.

The only minus point to me is its resolution, which is 576 pixels in height. This can lead to problems like dialog boxes not being able to fully fit inside the screen. This is the same problem that I used to face on my old EEE 701, which had just 480 pixels in height. Some users will also complain about the position of the left and right click buttons. These buttons are on the sides of the trackpad instead of being at its bottom. Battery life is also nothing to talk home about: somewhere between 2-3 hours.

Overall: An average netbook

HP recently released the 1366 x 768 resolution version of HP Mini 2140. The high resolution as expected, gives better options for web browsing, photo editing, etc.

Personally, this resolution is much better than 1024 x 568 pixels that come with the non-HD version of HP 2140.
