Overclock HP Mini 311 (both CPU and GPU): upto 2.1GHz!
HP Mini 311 is considered as the most powerful netbook and uses Atom + ION chipset combo for that extra edge over the usual netbooks that we around. Over at myhpmini, some folks have been able to overclock it to yield even more performance from it.
So, to overclock it:
1. Download and install the OCTuner software from this link
2. Go to the install path (IE C:\Program Files\ASRock Utility\OCTuner) and open the file ASROC.ini
3. Add this line under [Support Model]: 3651=ion.ini
4. Download the attached ion.ini and put it in the install path folder (same folder as ASROC.ini)
5. Use the program (at your own risk) to overclock your Atom!
More about Step 3:
If using the modified ion.ini file does not work well with your overclock (instability, blue screens, etc..),
change “3651=ion.ini” to “3651=AMCP7A.ini” under [Support Model] in the ASROC.ini file.
How were they able to overclock the GPU? Well, since it uses Nvidia’s ION processor, it was much simpler to over clock it using the Nvidia’s System tools. The system tools can be downloaded from HERE
SONY VAIO P coming to Verizon!
Guess who is going to join the Verizon’s netbook range? The very tiny SONY VAIO P!
The specs have not undergone huge change except for the fact that it now comes with a much bigger 160GB HDD and wireless broadband module (which is absent in some International models). Other specs: 2GB RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium and that 8-inch screen with super high resolution (1600×768)
Price: $299.99 with a 2 year contract. Sounds a bit expensive. Yes, but then it is SONY.
Currently, Gateway LT2016U, HP Mini 311 and HP Mini 110 are being offered by Verizon and we are sure that SONY VAIO P (review) will attract a lof of people due to small size and light weight.
